The Washington Commanders were surprisingly one victory shy of a Super Bowl appearance in quarterback Jayden Daniels’ rookie season.
No one anticipated the Commanders to reach the NFC Championship Game, but now that they have, Washington’s front office should look to go all-in. As of now, Daniels’ top two weapons are wide receiver Terry McLaurin and tight end Zach Ertz.
While McLaurin has been a strong weapon for years, having the veteran Ertz as the No. 2 threat isn’t ideal for a Super Bowl contender. This could open the door for the Commanders to make a blockbuster trade for a $20 million star wide receiver.

Commanders Predicted To Trade for WR Garrett Wilson
Garrett Wilson has played with a plethora of QBs in his short time with the New York Jets, and it seems another is coming as the organization is seemingly planning to move on from Aaron Rodgers. If Wilson is tired of the revolving door the Jets have, he could request a trade.
Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes predicts the Commanders to swoop in and acquire the 24-year-old in exchange for a 2025 first-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick.
“The notion of trading a promising young player like Wilson might seem like madness. In three seasons, the former Ohio State standout has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards three times. His 101 receptions and 1,104 receiving yards this season were both career-highs,” Hughes wrote.
“But the Jets are also at a crossroads in more ways than one. They have a new head coach and general manager. They’re also unsure if aging veterans like quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams intend to continue their careers in 2025.”
The one benefiting most from this hypothetical move is Wilson, as Rodgers ranked No. 21 in PFSN’s QB+ metric compared to Daniels, who slotted at No. 9. The Jets’ offense also was No. 19 in the league per PFSN, while the Commanders’ was No. 6.
A WR tandem of McLaurin and Wilson could cause serious havoc for even the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary.
“An extension for Wilson would undoubtedly be part of the equation here, but the Commanders have more cap space than any team in the NFC ($86.7 million),” Hughes wrote. “Washington just fell one game shy of the Super Bowl and has star quarterback Jayden Daniels on a rookie contract. The time to win is now.”
“It’d be worth surrendering the 29th overall pick to gain a proven wide receiver who would give the Commanders one of the better one-two punches at wideout in the league,” Hughes stated.
