The Jayden Daniels-led Washington Commanders are just one win away from securing a chance to play for the Super Bowl. The Commanders will be playing in their first NFC Championship Game since 1992, after two decades of struggle under their old owner, Dan Snyder, who sold the team in 2023 after owning it since 1999.
Snyder was reluctant to sell the franchise, but a plethora of off-field controversies, like accusations of creating a “dysfunctional and toxic workplace,” facilitated Josh Harris’ record $6 billion purchase.
Now that the Commanders are playing under new ownership and thriving, sources reveal that their ex-owner isn’t too happy with the franchise.
NFL Fans Bash Dan Snyder Following Hateful Comments
It’s safe to say the Commanders struggled during Snyder’s ownership on and off the field. The franchise made just six playoff appearances in 24 years.
Other massive causes that contributed to the $6 billion deal included two scandals that took place in 2020.
The first one involved an incident of sexual harassment reported by The Washington Post. The articles detailed how Snyder, along with a few other male executives, created a hostile work environment that included sexually assaulting women and showcasing discriminatory behavior since 2006.
After handing the reigns to Harris, the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils, the franchise has seen instant success, especially because of the No. 2 overall pick, Daniels.
While that is great news for Commanders fans, the ex-owner, Snyder, reportedly hates the team’s newfound success.
According to a story by ESPN from Seth Wickersham and Don Van Natta Jr., after a nice London dinner, when one of his longtime associates returned to the United States, his colleague asked him what it was like for Snyder to watch his former team succeed, to which the associate replied, “He f****** hates it.”

“F*** Dan Snyder he’s a piece of trash,” one fan commented.
Another fan pointed out, “Don’t forget he’s the one who named the team Commanders, gave us the stupid W as the logo, and the trash uniforms.”
“Isn’t it funny how once he was out of the picture they started winning?” another fan highlighted the fact.
“This is wonderful news on the eve of the Championship,” another fan added to Sunday’s excitement.
“It’s always embarrassing as the boss to realize that you were indeed the problem!” another fan said, taking a dig at Snyder.
The Commanders will play the Philadelphia Eagles on Jan. 26, 2025, at 3 p.m. ET in the franchise’s most important game in decades.
