When Will Travis Hunter Be Drafted?

At the time of this writing, Hunter projects to be one of the first players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, due in large part to his transferrable skills on both sides of the ball. Offensively, the 6’1′ and 185-pound star has amassed an impressive 74 receptions, 911 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns to date.

On the defensive side, Hunter has three interceptions and one forced fumble in addition to being one of the strongest and quickest corners in the country.

Hunter is in the midst of one of the most memorable college football seasons in recent years and is the current favorite for this year’s Heisman Trophy. With his declaration that this season will be his last in Colorado, struggling NFL teams will surely be looking to add one of the most versatile and athletically gifted individuals available to their roster.

What Teams Are in Need of Hunter and His Dual-Threat Abilities?

While it can be argued that every team in the NFL is looking for a fast wide receiver with strong hands and a cornerback with elite footwork and instincts, there remains the strong chance that only a few teams will have drafted a player by the time Hunter is taken.

NFL teams like the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns are being linked to the talents of Hunter, due in large part to their respective abysmal team records. In addition, all three clubs listed above need either receiver or defensive back aid, something that would instantly change the second Hunter was drafted.

Pro Football Network recently released a 2025 NFL Mock Draft that had Hunter going first overall. With the current 2025 NFL Draft order, that meant that the Jacksonville Jaguars were the lucky recipients of the talented two-way player.

“Hunter brings a level of athleticism and playmaking ability we haven’t seen since Charles Woodson, the only defensive player to win the Heisman. Hunter offers more offensively than Woodson did, but you’re not really drafting him to be a full-time two-way player.

“Finding someone who understands both sides of the ball can make him a threat on either, and that’s what the Jags aim to achieve by selecting a player like Hunter, who’s also expected to excel in nearly every athletic drill.”

While it is still too early into the NFL season to know how the exact 2025 NFL Draft order will play out, it is clear that Hunter’s name will be on the list of those available to be selected when the time does come around.

As is clear, Hunter represents one of the most exciting prospects to enter the NFL Draft in recent decades and has the ability and skills to become one of the most versatile, influential, and ground-breaking players in football.
