Deion Sanders has brought a lot of attention to the Colorado Buffaloes college football team, thanks in large part to his son, Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback of the Buffaloes, as well as Travis Hunter, the wide receiver/cornerback and the recipient of a shiny new Heisman Trophy winner.
A lot of 2025 NFL Draft speculation has circulated about the two soon-to-be NFL picks and whether both may be selected inside the first five picks of the upcoming draft. The latest post of Shedeur Sanders’ locker is extremely suggestive that he “knows” that he is going to be a New York Giant.
Shedeur Sanders Sparks Conversations With Cryptic Post
In a video where Sanders is warming up for practice, he can be heard saying, “We know where we going, you’ll see in the cleats later on this week.” Sanders also says in the video, “You can’t get higher than one.”

The cleats are bright red with blue laces and blue accents; also the Giants are currently projected on pace to pick No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
As if the colors weren’t a giveaway, the cleats actually have a Giants logo on them too. Nomad Customs, who designed the customized cleats for Sanders, revealed a better photo on their Instagram that shows New York’s logo.
The Giants play the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles to finish the season, and it’s very likely that New York will finish the season with just two wins.
Factoring in each team’s record, metrics, and remaining schedule, PFN’s model currently gives the Giants the best odds to pick No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft:
- New York Giants, 39.4%
- New England Patriots, 20.5%
- Jacksonville Jaguars, 9.3%
- Cleveland Browns, 9.1%
- Las Vegas Raiders, 7.6%
- Tennessee Titans, 6.8%
- Chicago Bears, 3.0%
- Carolina Panthers, 2.0%
Are Sanders and the New York Giants Compatible?
Since Coach Prime took the head coach position at Colorado, he has brought a lot of media attention to the school. His son Shedeur has been at the forefront of that, so the bright lights and clamoring reporters with their microphones are nothing new for him.
Sanders ending up in New York could be a potential match made in heaven as far as publicity is concerned for the young prospect. It’s not difficult to picture Sanders preferring the attention of a New York or Las Vegas-type team to, say, Carolina, Tennesse,e or Cleveland.
New York desperately needs consistent quarterback play after the disaster that their quarterback room has become; Daniel Jones was decent in 2022, leading to a big payday that looks like one of the worst moves in free agency in recent memory.
Jones threw for just eight touchdowns to go with seven interceptions in the Giants’ first 10 games before his eventual benching and subsequent release. Jones now sits on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad.
As bad as Jones was for the first 10 games of the season, the Giants have managed to get worse. Drew Lock, fan favorite Tommy DeVito, and journeyman Tim Boyle have combined to throw only two touchdowns in 197 attempts since Jones’ departure.

The Giants seem to be guaranteed to draft a quarterback at this point with their first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Sanders believes he is the one.
New York could also do well to seek Sanders with the No. 1 pick to pair with their 2024 first-round pick Malik Nabers, who showed flashes in between injuries this season and needs just 31 yards to reach 1,000 for the season. Nabers is trending toward playing this week, so it’s conceivable he will hit the milestone on Sunday against the Colts.
Factoring in rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. with Nabers and the potential selection of Sanders, the Giants could have a solid starting foundation of their skill position players on offense for Brian Daboll (or whoever the head coach ends up being if Daboll is axed).
