Then there were nine. With multiple all-undefeated matchups where someone’s unbeaten record had to fall and with some sensational shocks that stripped us of several teams, six teams fell by the wayside following College Football Week 7.
Which teams survived another week of college football thrills and spills, how did they make it through, and who is their next obstacle in the quest to go through the entire college football season undefeated?
College Football Teams Undefeated After Week 7
College Football Week 7 obliterated a huge chunk of the remaining undefeated teams. The inevitability of an all-undefeated matchup saw Penn State, Alabama, and Oklahoma State suffer a notch in the losing column.
While the Nittany Lions suffered a thrashing at the hands of the Michigan ground game, both the Crimson Tide and the Cowboys played their part in two of the most thrilling games of the weekend.
Although some might consider Tennessee beating Alabama a shock, the true shocks in Week 7 came from the Sun Belt conference. Coastal Carolina had been predicted a berth in the Cotton Bowl ahead of their clash with Old Dominion. However, the Monarchs ruled the roost over the Chanticleers, ending their unbeaten run with a crushing 49-21 win.
Meanwhile, James Madison’s FBS football fairytale finally came to an end in a back-and-forth game with Georgia Southern. The two teams traded blows right up until the end when a spectacular Derwin Burgess Jr. touchdown gave the Eagles a decisive 45-38 advantage.

A Todd Centeio interception ended hopes the Dukes had of tying the game at the death and removed another team from going undefeated.
At least two teams will enter the final third of the season with their unbeaten record intact. Michigan and Georgia are all on a bye next weekend. However, one team will definitely fall from contention in the next seven days.
Syracuse, 6-0 for the first time since 1987 following their college football Week 7 win over NC State, will entertain Clemson next week in an all-ACC, all-undefeated clash.
Two teams, who remained undefeated through College Football Week 7 due to being on a bye week, will return to action next weekend. UCLA faces a tough test against Oregon in Eugene, while Ohio State faces a slightly less difficult game against an Iowa Hawkeyes team that likely won’t be able to live with the Buckeyes’ free-scoring offense.
Can any team match 2019 LSU, 2018 Clemson, or 2013 Florida State and win a title without tasting defeat in the entire season? These are the contenders following all of the college football action in Week 6.
