Colin Cowherd Draws Stark Parallels Between Aaron Rodgers and Michael Jordan of Washington Wizards Era

    Published on

Colin Cowherd compares Aaron Rodgers' Jets stint to Michael Jordan's Wizards era, highlighting fading magic and familiar faces in both careers.

Colin Cowherd just dropped a bold comparison, likening Aaron Rodgers’ current run with the New York Jets to Michael Jordan’s time with the Washington Wizards. Yep, you read that right — Rodgers and Jordan, two legends, one strange parallel.

Cowherd sees similarities between MJ’s post-Chicago Bulls career and Rodgers’ post-Green Bay Packers stint, both players battling the weight of their legendary pasts while trying to reignite magic in unexpected places.

It’s a take that’ll have you scratching your head and rethinking how we view these icons in their later chapters. Could Rodgers be following the same path as Jordan? Let’s break it down.

Cowherd didn’t mince words when drawing a line between Rodgers and Jordan. Rodgers, much like MJ was, is surrounded by familiar faces: offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett (his Doug Collins) and his “buddy” Allen Lazard (hello, Charles Oakley).

Yet, something feels off. Both have had their flashes. But the magic just isn’t hitting the same way anymore.

“Aaron’s become a little like the Washington Wizards’ MJ. Called out a teammate: Kwame Brown, Mike Williams. Had a buddy as a coach: Hackett, Doug Collins. Had a buddy as a player: Lazard, Charles Oakley,” Cowherd alluded on his podcast.

Cowherd’s verdict? Rodgers’ offense is “an old man offense.” It’s a jab that stings, especially after Rodgers’ piteous 151-yard showing against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10. Throw in a career-low 4.3 yards per attempt, and you get the feeling the clock’s ticking faster than expected.

At 3-7, the Jets are fading fast, with fans beginning to wonder if the playoffs are just a pipe dream.

The Super Bowl 45 champ looks more like a past-prime quarterback trying to recapture his old self than the elite playmaker he once was. It’s the same vibe we saw with Jordan in Washington, surrounded by nostalgia but clearly not the same player.

Cowherd’s Jordan/Wizards comparison may feel harsh, but it cuts deep. Rodgers has the tools, but the window is closing, and the Jets’ once-promising offense is looking more like a chapter that’s run its course.

Mike Williams Throws Subtle Shade at Rodgers After Game-Winning TD With Steelers

Mike Williams gave Rodgers a subtle social media jab after scoring the game-winning TD for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Williams, in his first game as a Steeler, caught a 32-yard pass from Russell Wilson to seal a 28-27 win over the Washington Commanders.

It was his only target and reception of the game — but he made it count.

The dig came after the 40-year-old QB publicly scolded Williams for an error during a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 14, blaming him for slipping on a fourth-quarter interception.

After the Steelers’ win, Williams took to Instagram, posting a celebratory message with the hashtag “#RedLine.” This was a clear nod to Rodgers’ critique, where the QB referenced Williams running the “red line” route that was, in Rodgers’ view, ran incorrectly.

While Williams kept his comments professional, reflecting on his Jets time as “cool,” he acknowledged the challenges of joining the team after ACL surgery. He noted missing OTAs and training camp hindered his ability to click with Rodgers.

Despite the rough patch, Williams is now making his mark in Pittsburgh, leaving the past behind and letting his play speak for itself.
