Coach Prime is never one to shy away from speaking his mind. This time, the spotlight was on a cheeky move by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., who took over his father’s Instagram account and had some fun with a rumor about Coach Prime’s bonuses.
Deion Jr.’s Playful Prank on Coach Prime
Deion Jr. reposted a tweet on his father’s IG account, claiming that the Colorado Buffaloes head coach had earned a hefty $600,000 bonus this season, tagging his siblings in the post and joking that they all deserved a cut.
But Coach Prime wasn’t having any of it. He swiftly shut down the speculation by commenting on the post with a blunt response, “This is INCORRECT. I don’t know what y’all talking about. My Old money has @blenders on by the way.”

To add some humor to his correction, Sanders also made sure to mention his “old money” and show off his Blenders sunglasses. Classic Coach Prime, keeping it real and refusing to entertain rumors about his financials.
Despite Coach Prime’s firm stance on the bonus rumors, Deion Jr. had a little more fun with the situation. On the same Instagram post, he mentioned that he had a talk with Colorado’s athletic director, Rick George, who allegedly confirmed that the bonus was real.
Deion Jr. jokingly asked for his share, tagging his siblings and making it clear that they wanted in on the action.
“I asked Mr Rick and he said they ain’t lying….. we need some of that @shilosanders @shedeursanders @shelomisanders @deiondrasanders (posted by @deionsandersjr)”
It’s all in good fun, though. The bond between Coach Prime and his family is undeniable, with Deion Jr. and his siblings often playing key roles in the coach’s success. Whether they get a piece of the bonus or not, one thing is for sure: Coach Prime and his kids keep things entertaining, both on and off the field.
How Much Did Coach Prime Really Earn?
While Coach Prime quickly denied the rumored $600,000 bonus, there’s no doubt that his performance at Colorado this season has earned him some serious incentives. Reports suggest that Sanders signed a five-year, $29.5 million contract when he took over as head coach of the Buffaloes in 2022.
Colorado signed Deion Sanders to a $29.5M deal — without even having the money to pay for it.
“We don’t have the money yet, but I know we'll have it."
Buffs fans donated a record $28M to the athletic department and sold out season tickets for the first time in 27 years.

However, the details of his bonuses haven’t been fully verified, but some reports indicate that his bonuses could be tied to Colorado’s success.
As the Buffs wrapped up a solid 9-3 season, including a big win over Oklahoma State and the team eyeing a bowl game, maybe Coach Prime’s bonuses have exceeded expectations. However, it seems Sanders wants to keep that under wraps, preferring to keep the focus on football rather than his bank account.
