‘I’m Not a Watch Guy’ — Coach Prime Makes Honest Admission on Shedeur Sanders’ Famous Celebration

Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, has done a great job of turning around the Colorado Buffaloes football program. In two seasons since arriving, he has transformed it from one of the worst programs in the country to a destination for recruits.

Part of his success can be attributed to him bringing two superstars with him from Jackson State, his son QB Shedeur Sanders and two-way star Travis Hunter.

Coach Prime Makes an Admission About Shedeur Sanders’ Gift

Coach Prime appeared on “First Take” on ESPN on Friday, Feb. 7 to talk about his son’s upcoming status in the 2025 NFL Draft and the Super Bowl 59 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

When talking about his son, he told the other members of the panel that he knew that the Colorado QB would be able to handle himself no matter who his coach was. He knows this because he knows he is someone who can perform when all the pressure is on him.

“I know who he is. When I’m not there, I know who he is. When the game is on the line, I know who he is. When the lights are on and everybody is praising and clapping for him I know who he is. He’s going to be consistently who he is. Now he’s got some swagger. He inherited that.”

Coach Prime then went on to show off a gold watch that his son gave him for his birthday. He joked that while he does not know anything about fancy watches he does know how to tell time.

“All that, matter of fact he bought me this for my birthday last week. I don’t know what it is, but they told me it is expensive. I promise you I’m not a watch guy. I don’t know what it is, but I do know how to tell time.”

Shedeur Sanders appears to have splurged on a fancy watch for his father’s birthday. Fortunately for him, finances are unlikely to be an issue again. He is set to enter the 2025 NFL Draft as one of the top prospects, securing a favorable rookie salary in the process.

Alongside Miami’s Cam Ward, Sanders is one of the two top QBs according to most draft experts. As a result, he will almost certainly be a top-five pick with a chance of going first. Getting drafted that high would mean he is set to sign a huge rookie contract.
