After Coach Prime joined the Colorado Buffaloes in Dec. 2022, there were certain expectations that came with him — an expectation that the former two-sports star will take the program to a new level. That didn’t happen in his first year with the Buffs, but it’s now clear that he has found his footing and is taking the once-failing program to the top of the league.
With an 8-2 record, Colorado is just behind BYU in the overall standings and tied with them at 6-1 in the Big 12. Opponents can feel the pressure when the Buffaloes step on the field, a sentiment mirrored by their coach.
Deion Sanders Jr. on Coach Prime’s Stance on Colorado’s Position
With two games left in the regular season (an away matchup against the Kansas Jayhawks and a home game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys) and playoff hopes very much alive, pressure usually begins to mount at this point in the season. But that does not seem to be the case for Deion Sanders, who had an electric take on his team’s current position:
“Look at me, man. Do I look like I subscribe to pressure, or do I look like I apply? We apply pressure, we don’t subscribe to it.”
Coach Prime’s son, Deion Sanders Jr., who runs a streetwear brand, is a rapper and YouTuber, dropped his take on his father’s comments on Thursday:
“Apply that pressure.”

The Buffaloes’ only losses this season came in Week 2 to the Nebraska Cornhuskers (28-10) and in Week 7 to the Kansas State Wildcats (31-28). Since then, Colorado has been on a strong four-game win streak, picking up momentum as they head into their final regular-season matchups.
If the team wins its remaining games, they will get their ticket to the Big 12 title game in Arlington, Texas, this December. A win there would send the Buffs on their way to the new 12-team College Football Playoff.
Shedeur Sanders, Coach Prime’s son and Colorado’s quarterback, has been at the forefront of the team’s recent win streak. After being criticized for the number of sacks he took in previous games, many analysts have reversed their takes, especially after his play against the Utah Utes last Saturday.
In that game, Sanders threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns, holding off a late rally as well. The pressure applied by the Buffaloes on offense and defense had the crowd roaring their name in the stadium.
