‘This Man Deserves a Real Chance!’ – Coach Prime Doubles Down on Backing NFL Analyst for Jets Job

    Published on

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders believes that one ESPN analyst would be a great choice for the New York Jets' general manager vacancy.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has made clear he believes ESPN analyst Louis Riddick would be a strong candidate for the New York Jets’ vacant general manager position. The statement by Coach Prime comes in the wake of a report by ESPN analyst and NFL insider Adam Schefter, one that explained how Riddick had recently interviewed for the job opening.

Earlier in the season, the Jets fired GM Joe Douglas after a disappointing and embarrassing 3-8 record, given the hype entering the campaign. Douglas was a major reason behind the Jets trading for legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers, someone who has not looked like his former elite self.

What Did Coach Prime Say About the New York Jets?

On Jan. 2, Schefter released a post on X (formerly Twitter), explaining how Riddick had recently interviewed for the open Jets job.

“Jets completed an interview with ESPN analyst Louis Riddick for their General Manager vacancy,” he detailed.

In response to this, Prime Time made clear that he hoped that this interview was completed with the real intention of having Riddick as a strong candidate and real option for the job in the future. He also added how remarkable a person and football mind Riddick was.

“Jets Please don’t mess this up and I pray this was a real interview and not that other thang y’all do. This man deserves a REAL CHANCE! He is knowledge & Class personified! #CoachPrime,” Sanders outlined.

Will Louis Riddick Be the New General Manager of the New York Jets?

It is still unclear whether Riddick will become the latest Jets GM. However, there is no question that he has the football knowledge to succeed should he get the job. Riddick is a former NFL player, and since retiring, moved into an executive role with numerous clubs. Prior to moving to a media role, he was most recently the director of pro personnel with the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, it is evident that the Jets job will a tough one, where difficult questions and solutions will need to be discussed.

For example, the future of Rodgers and veteran receiver Davante Adams still needs to be figured out after a disappointing season by all accounts.

Rodgers has consistently struggled to perform with the Jets, and he has struggled to elevate the young players around him, such as Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson, at the level many expected prior to his arrival.

The Jets host the Miami Dolphins in their final game of the regular season this weekend, with the Jets entering the contest with a 4-12 record.
