Cleveland Browns Coaches: Who Is on Kevin Stefanski’s Coaching Staff?

After winning Coach of the Year with the Cleveland Browns for the second time, who fills out the rest of Kevin Stefanski's coaching staff?

After spending the better part of the last few decades at the bottom of the barrel in terms of not only the AFC but the NFL as a whole, the Cleveland Browns have been a much-improved team in recent years. A big reason for that has been head coach Kevin Stefanski, who is now a two-time NFL Coach of the Year.

Here’s a look into what Stefanski’s staff looks like for the 2024 season, including a handful of new additions.

    Cleveland Browns Coaching Staff

    • Kevin Stefanski, Head Coach
    • Kevin Rogers, Senior Assistant / Special Projects
    • Riley Hecklinski, Coordinator, Coaching Logistics
    • Ken Dorsey, Offensive Coordinator
    • Callie Brownson, Assistant Wide Receivers
    • Nick Charlton, Offensive Assistant / Run Game Specialist
    • Andy Dickerson, Offensive Line
    • Ashton Grant, Offensive Assistant / Quarterbacks
    • Roy Istvan, Assistant Offensive Line
    • Bill Musgrave, Senior Offensive Assistant
    • Chad O’Shea, Pass Game Coordinator / Wide Receivers
    • Tommy Rees, Pass Game Specialist / Tight Ends
    • Duce Staley, Running Backs
    • Jim Schwartz, Defensive Coordinator
    • Jeff Anderson, Defensive Quality Control
    • Ephraim Banda, Safeties
    • Jacques Cesaire, Defensive Line
    • Zach Dunn, Defensive Assistant
    • Brandon Lynch, Cornerbacks
    • Jason Tarver, Linebackers
    • Jordan Thomas, Assistant Defensive Line
    • Bubba Ventrone, Assistant Head Coach / Special Teams Coordinator
    • Stephen Bravo-Brown, Assistant Special Teams

While the offensive side of the ball underwent some changes, Jim Schwartz’s defensive unit remained intact. Winning Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023, Schwartz’s defense was the best in the NFL in terms of defensive yards allowed per game, giving up just 270.2.

That number was almost 20 yards better than the second-place Kansas City Chiefs, who allowed 289.8 per game.

The Browns were also the best in terms of pass defense, allowing just 164.7 passing yards per game and 23 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Cleveland’s run defense ranked 11th, allowing 105.5 yards per game and 15 touchdowns.

New Additions to the Browns’ Coaching Staff

While the defensive side of the ball was solid, the offense had some issues. After firing OC Alex Van Pelt and several of his assistants following the season, Cleveland brought in former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey as his replacement.

Dorsey will look to improve on the 16th-ranked offense in terms of yards per game (335.9). Additionally, the Browns’ offense scored 42 touchdowns, tied for eighth in the league.

Dorsey had been fired by the Bills in November of last year following a series of lackluster offensive performances that dropped the team to a 5-5 record.

In addition to Dorsey, Tommy Rees was brought in to be Cleveland’s tight ends coach and pass game specialist. Rees spent 2023 as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama and will work with Deshaun Watson in an attempt to bring out his best.

Other hired coaches include Duce Staley, Andy Dickerson, and Roy Istvan. Dickerson will be the team’s offensive line coach, replacing Bill Callahan, who was allowed to leave the team to join his son, Brian Callahan, on the Tennessee Titans.
