    Bengals-Giants Game Recap

The Giants backed the Bengals up into a favorable situation as Joe Burrow and Cincinnati’s offense faced third-and-18 on their first drive. New York’s entire defense went toward the left side of the field as Burrow dropped back to pass. Therefore, Burrow left the pocket and recorded the longest run of his career for a 47-yard rushing touchdown.

Daniel Jones and the Giants responded on their second possession with a drive into the red zone. Yet, Jones missed a wide-open Tyrone Tracy Jr. and was hit by Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill while throwing down the field. Bengals LB Germaine Pratt came down with the interception as the Giants failed to score points on their first trip to the red zone.

Cincinnati’s offensive line has struggled mightily against New York’s stout defensive front. Burrow is consistently under duress, as he was sacked three times in the first half.

Giants outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari recorded two sacks on Burrow, including one on third down to essentially end the first half.

Ojulari continues to leave his mark on this prime-time matchup as he forced a fumble on Cincinnati’s first drive of the second half. Bengals veteran running back Zack Moss couldn’t hold onto the football as Ojulari knocked it loose. Giants LB Micah McFadden recovered the fumble and got the ball back for New York.

Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. put the team on his back as New York evened the score with five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Tracy went over 70 total yards and scored the first touchdown of his NFL career on Sunday night.

It appeared as though the Giants were going to mount a comeback late in the fourth quarter. New York was forced to go for it on fourth-and-three as they were outside of field goal range. Bengals cornerback DJ Turner II had other plans, though, as he jumped in front of a pass intended for Darius Slayton to end New York’s comeback attempt.

Bengals running back Chase Brown put the game out of reach late in the fourth quarter with a 30-yard touchdown run. New York’s defensive front limited Brown to just 23 rushing yards on his first nine carries of the game. Yet, Brown was able to break free and put the Bengals up by double-digits on Sunday night.

Giants kicker Greg Joseph missed his second field goal of the night on the team’s next drive, which ultimately ended New York’s comeback attempt. It certainly wasn’t a pretty victory for the Bengals, but they improved to 2-4 as they look to stay alive in the AFC playoff race.

Cincinnati’s Defense Dominates in Much-Needed Win

Through the first five weeks of the regular season, Cincinnati’s defense was a legitimate problem. Heading into Sunday night, the Bengals were allowing 29.0 points per game in 2024. However, Cincinnati’s defense stepped up with a dominant performance against the Giants.

Bengals defensive tackle B.J. Hill was a disruptive force throughout the entire game. Hill recorded seven total tackles, two pass breakups, and two quarterback hits.

While the Bengals only recorded two sacks on Giants QB Daniel Jones, he was constantly forced out of the pocket on Sunday night. Trey Hendrickson bounced back with a strong performance in Week 6, as he was responsible for both of Cincinnati’s sacks against New York.

Now the Bengals will look to carry over this defensive success into a divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7. The Browns are currently 1-5 — next week’s game is likely viewed as a must-win matchup for the Bengals.
