CLEVELAND — Joe Burrow has met his timeline. The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback — the league’s newly minted richest player — is indeed active and will start Sunday against the Cleveland Browns after suffering a calf injury early in training camp.

Analysis
Two rookies and 2021 second-round pick Jackson Carman are among the list of inactives for the Cincinnati Bengals today in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
It appeared as though D’Ante Smith had supplanted Carman as the swing tackle during training camp, and this confirms it. Smith suffered a left shoulder injury in the preseason finale at Washington, but he was listed as a full participant in all three practices this week.
Rookie fifth-round running back Chase Brown, rookie seventh-round cornerback D.J. Ivey, offensive lineman Trey Hill and injured defensive end Joseph Ossai are the other inactives.

Looks for Trayveon Williams to assume the third-down back role vacated by Samaje Perine, and Chris Evans will be the kick returner, which means Brown will have to wait to make his NFL debut.
Ossai suffered a right ankle injury at Washington and did not practice all week, but head coach Zac Taylor said he is progressing well.
Hill lost his spot to Max Scharping, who won the backup center job in camp despite never playing a snap at center during any point in his professional or collegiate careers.
