Cincinnati Bengals Practice Report: Possible Rookie Debut on Deck

If Chris Evans isn't able to go Sunday, it would have a ripple effect in the running back room and on special teams for the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Cincinnati Bengals are back in full pads for today’s practice ahead of Sunday’s home opener against the Baltimore Ravens, and defensive lineman Cam Sample is suited up and practicing after sitting out Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury.

But the Bengals still are at least one player short of full attendance, as running back Chris Evans, who was listed as limited Wednesday with a hamstring injury, is not working.

Cincinnati Bengals Practice Report: Will Chris Evans Be Able To Go Sunday?

If Evans is unable to go Sunday, there would be a ripple effect for two rookies. Fifth-rounder Chase Brown, who was inactive Sunday in Cleveland, would be active as the third running back. And Charlie Jones, the fourth-round wide receiver, presumably would assume Evans’ kick-return duties in addition to his regular role as the punt returner.

Linebacker Logan Wilson (ankle) and defensive end Joseph Ossai (ankle) were present for stretching after being listed as limited Wednesday. We will see when today’s injury report comes out if any of them have been upgraded to full workloads.

Quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) and safety Dax Hill (hand) were listed as full participants Wednesday despite their injuries and should be full again today.

The Baltimore Ravens had four key players miss practice Wednesday — cornerback Marlon Humphrey (foot), safety Marcus Williams (pectoral), tackle Ronnie Stanley (knee), and center Tyler Linderbaum (ankle). Of that group, only Humphrey is thought to have a chance to play Sunday.

Tight end Mark Andrews missed the opener but returned to the practice field Wednesday as a limited participant.

UPDATE: Sample and Ossai are listed as limited on the injury report, as is a new addition in linebacker Markus Bailey with a knee injury.

Wilson was upgraded to a full participant, while Burrow and Hill also were listed as full again.

There were no changes on the Ravens injury report as they continue to be without some key pieces.
