The Cincinnati Bengals are holding their final practice before the team gets three days off for the holiday weekend. 66 of the 68 players are present, including quarterback Joe Burrow after making his return from a 34-day absence on Wednesday.
Joe Burrow Returns to Bengals Practice
The only two not seen during the portion open to the media were defensive end Joseph Ossai, who suffered a right ankle injury in Saturday’s preseason finale at Washington, and wide receiver Tyler Boyd.
When the team came off the field, Boyd was with the group but not in uniform. It’s unlikely it was just a rest day with three days off on deck, but it also doesn’t appear to be anything serious as he was involved in his typical spirited games of ping-pong and not in the training room after practice.
Head coach Zac Taylor said during his pre-practice news conference that he did not have an update on the timeline for Ossai’s return. The reason for Boyd’s absence is unknown.
Defensive tackle B.J. Hill and rookie cornerback DJ Turner were practicing after spending Wednesday on the rehab field with what head coach Zac Taylor labeled as soreness.
Tackles D’Ante Smith and La’el Collins were the only players on the rehab field today. Smith injured his left shoulder in the loss to the Commanders, while Collins is still working his way back from the ACL injury he suffered Dec. 24.
Running back Demetric Felton is making his Bengals debut after passing his physical this morning and signing to the practice squad.
