Cincinnati Bengals Practice and Injury Report: Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase Returns

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was practicing Wednesday, leaving the team one player shy of a perfect attendance.

After sitting out Tuesday’s walkthrough and showing up as a non-participant on the estimated practice report with an ankle injury, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was back to work today.

Chase arrived at practice with his helmet and wearing cleats and was taking part during the portion open to the media.

The Bengals listed Chase as a limited participant, but he said after practice he “100 perent is playing” Saturday against the Vikings.

Chase played fewer snaps than usual in Sunday’s 34-14 victory against the Indianapolis Colts, but he was active well into the fourth quarter. Head coach Zac Taylor opened his Tuesday press conference by saying there were no significant injuries coming out of the game, so there is no reason to think Chase won’t be available for Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings and his LSU teammate Justin Jefferson.

With all due respect to linebacker and special teamer Joe Bachie, the most significant absence at practice today was the music.

There was a lot of grumbling among the players as they stretched in silence as assistant equipment manager Sam Staley tried to diagnose the problem with the sound system before calling in the big gun from the offices, senior director of technology Jake Kiser.

“You don’t need music to play football,” Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie announced to his teammates who were grousing.

The lack of tunes did not diminish the energy on the front lines of the stretch formation as cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who is on injured reserve with a calf injury, was present and doing his personalized hyped-up handshakes with dozens of teammates.

Bachie, who was the only player other than Chase listed as a non-participant Tuesday, was present as well. He’s battling an oblique injury but was doing lower body work with resistance bands.

All of the other players were present. Wide receiver Tyler Body (foot/ankle) and cornerback DJ Turner II (ankle) were listed as limited Tuesday, and we will see if they were upgraded to full today when the team releases the injury report after 4 p.m.

    Update 4:30 p.m.

Chase was the only change on today’s injury report, with his upgrade from non-participant to limited.
