How Did the Cincinnati Bengals List Ja’Marr Chase on the Injury Report?

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase were two of the four players on today's injury report.

CINCINNATI – The Cincinnati Bengals released their first injury report of the season on the same day Ja’Marr Chase did his most meaningful work in practice since the end of 2023.

The Bengals listed Chase as a limited participant with a Non-Injury Related/Rest designation.

Chase broke his contract hold-in by practicing for the first time in a practice open to the media since the lead-up to last year’s season finale.

The receiver did not speak with the media after practice but said he would do so Friday.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who was listed as a full participant with his surgically repaired right wrist, talked about his top target after practice, declaring Chase ready to play Sunday against the Patriots “if need be.”

“He’s ready to go,” Burrow said.

    Ready to go right now?

    “Yep.”

Rookie first-round pick Amarius Mims also was listed as limited after suffering a pectoral injury in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 10.

Mims has been participating in less strenuous drills during the last few practices. When the other offensive linemen were hitting the blocking sled, Mims was doing medicine ball work.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor announced Monday that veteran Trent Brown would start at right tackle.

“We’ll manage that situation as we continue to go, but with a rookie not practicing, certainly that would be a hindrance to starting a game,” he said. “Trent has done a great job for us. We have managed him throughout this training camp. He’s a pro; he’s done a really good job throughout this training camp, and so I am excited to watch him work.”

Asked whether Mims could be active as a backup Sunday, Taylor said, “We’ll see. We’ll take it through the week.”

The only other player on the injury report is rookie second-round pick Kris Jenkins, who was limited due to a thumb issue.

Jenkins was wearing a splint that went from his thumb to his wrist in the locker room after practice.
