Cincinnati Bengals Injury and Practice Report: Ja’Marr Chase Sits With Ankle Injury

Cincinnati Bengals wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd are on the injury report as the team begins preparations for the Minnesota Vikings.

The Cincinnati Bengals held an evening walkthrough today to start their preparation for Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, and the team released an estimated practice report.

That report has wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase listed as a non-participant with an ankle injury, although he was present at the walkthrough and in uniform.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase Missed Practice With Ankle Injury

Chase caught just three passes for 29 yards while playing 52 snaps (87 percent) in Sunday’s 34-14 victory against the Indianapolis Colts.

There have been only four games where Chase has had fewer catches in his career, and there have been only three games where he’s had fewer yards.

The 87 percent snap share was Chase’s second lowest of the season next to the 84 percent he played in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.

But the first question head coach Zac Taylor fielded in his news conference earlier today was about injuries coming out of Sunday’s game, to which he responded, “Everything is positive so far.”

The Bengals ran 14 offensive plays in the fourth quarter Sunday, and Chase was on the field for only eight of them (57 percent). Though, the Bengals had a comfortable lead.

We will get a better indication of where Chase stands as far as availability for Saturday’s game against the Vikings when the Bengals hold their first full practice Wednesday afternoon.

Also listed as a non-participant on today’s estimated report was linebacker/special teamer Joe Bachie due to an oblique injury.

Wide receiver Tyler Boyd (foot/ankle) and defensive back DJ Turner II (ankle) were listed as limited.

Boyd showed up on the injury report with the ankle last week on Thursday, but the foot designation is new. Boyd was limited Thursday and Friday and listed as questionable for the game. He was active and played, but he caught just two passes for 23 yards while logging 31 snaps. That 52-percent snap share was his season low.

Turner also was on the injury report last week, but that was due to a hamstring issue — the ankle is new. Like Boyd, Turner was a surprise addition to the injury report Thursday, when he was listed as limited. But he went full Friday, did not have a game status on the final injury report, and played 98 percent of the snaps Sunday.

Quarterback Jake Browning (right forearm), cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (shoulder), and tight end Mitch Wilcox (knee) are on today’s estimated report but are listed as full participants. Browning’s forearm is in relation to the cramping he had during Sunday’s game while missing seven snaps.
