Cincinnati Bengals Injury and Practice Report: Ja’Marr Chase Reports for Duty

    Published on

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase returned to practice today, but he still has some hurdles to clear in order to play Sunday at KC.

Today marked the Cincinnati Bengals‘ chilliest practice of the season, but the chances of wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase playing Sunday at Kansas City are heating up.

Chase reported to practice in his jersey and with his helmet one day after being a spectator and doing some side work on the rehab field.

The Bengals will need to see how Chase’s shoulder, which he injured on Dec. 16 against Minnesota, responds this week after clearing all the rehab hurdles and going through football activities.

Chase’s presence gave the team perfect attendance, a rarity for this time of the season.

Cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, who remains on injured reserve but was a full participant Wednesday afternoon after being cleared to return to practice that morning, was back for a second day in a row.

“To see him doing some functional football stuff will be good,” head coach Zac Taylor said when asked about Taylor-Britt on Wednesday. “He’s got a positive mindset (and) went through the walkthrough today. Everything was positive there, but we just got to see him on the field.”

“Same with Ja’Marr,” Taylor added. “Just see how the week progresses with him.”

Two players were listed as limited Wednesday, but both defensive lineman Cam Sample (knee) and cornerback Jalen Davis (groin) were back to work today, taking part in position and special teams drills during the viewing period open to the media.

With temperatures in the upper 30s, the Bengals elected to practice outside rather than at their indoor facility. The forecast high in Kansas City on Sunday is 35 degrees, and temperatures will fall as the game, which kicks off at 3:25 local time, goes deeper into the evening.

The Bengals will release their injury report around 4:30, which is when we will find out if Chase was a limited or full participant.

    Update 4:30 p.m.

The Bengals listed Chase as a limited participant, but it certainly sounds as though he’s playing based on what he was saying about the Kansas City defense.
