Cincinnati Bengals Coaches: Who Is on Zac Taylor’s Coaching Staff?

After losing Brian Callahan to the Titans, the Cincinnati Bengals needed a new offensive coordinator, amongst others, to fill out Zac Taylor's coaching staff.

The Cincinnati Bengals, once thought of as an NFL bottom feeder, have been one of the better teams in the AFC in recent years. A big reason for that has been the success of Zac Taylor and his staff. As a result, Taylor’s longtime offensive coordinator, Brian Callahan, was hired by the Tennessee Titans to be their next head coach.

Here’s a look into what Taylor’s staff looks like for the 2024 season, including new offensive additions.

    Cincinnati Bengals Coaching Staff

    • Zac Taylor, Head Coach
    • Dan Pitcher, Offensive Coordinator
    • James Casey, Tight Ends
    • Derek Frazier, Assistant Offensive Line
    • Justin Hill, Running Backs
    • Fredi Knighten, Assistant Quarterbacks
    • Brad Kragthorpe, Quarterbacks
    • Frank Pollack, Offensive Line / Run Game Coordinator
    • Justin Rascati, Pass Game Coordinator
    • Jordan Salkin, Offensive Assistant
    • Troy Walters, Wide Receivers
    • Lou Anarumo, Defensive Coordinator
    • James Bettcher, Linebackers
    • Louie Cioffi, Defensive Quality Control
    • Charles Burks, Secondary / Cornerbacks
    • Mark Duffner, Senior Defensive Assistant
    • Marion Hobby, Defensive Line
    • Jordan Kovacs, Secondary / Safeties
    • Ronnie Regula, Defensive Assistant
    • Darrin Simmons, Assistant Head Coach / Special Teams Coordinator
    • Ben Jacobs, Assistant Special Teams

Despite changes to the offensive side of the ball, the defensive staff has remained untouched. Led by Lou Anarumo for the sixth year, the Bengals’ defense allowed the second-most yards per game in 2023 with 374.6. Cincinnati also allowed 41 touchdowns.

Offensively, Dan Pitcher is taking over as the team’s offensive coordinator. Having been a part of Cincinnati’s staff for nine seasons, 2024 will be his first as an OC. Pitcher most recently coached the team’s quarterbacks from 2020-23. His success with Joe Burrow and Jake Browning likely earned him the promotion.

Another key coach returning is Troy Walters, who will be coaching the team’s wide receivers. In his fifth season with the Bengals and fourth as WRs coach, Walters has been responsible for the development of Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd, and several others.

New Additions to the Bengals’ Coaching Staff

In terms of new personnel, the Bengals added four new assistant coaches. Leading the pack is Justin Rascati as Cincinnati’s passing game coordinator. Rascati spent the last two seasons in Minnesota as an assistant offensive line coach and was also a quality control coach for the Denver Broncos.

The other three additions are Jordan Salkin (offensive assistant), Ronnie Regula (defensive assistant), and Ben Jacobs (special teams assistant). Both Salkin and Regula come from the college ranks, with the former being an offensive analyst for Oregon in 2023 and the latter a former senior defensive analyst for Notre Dame from 2022-23.

Jacobs, however, spent the last five seasons as an assistant special teams coach with the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders. He’s also a former NFL linebacker from 2011-18, having played in 73 career games.
