Christian Watson’s Father Takes Issue With Bears Fans After Injury

The young receiver suffered the non-contact knee injury in the first half of Sunday’s game and did not return. And at this time, Watson’s status for being ready by Week 1 of next season is up in the air.

Watson has endured his fair share of injuries during his three years in the NFL, but he was having a solid season in 2024, totaling 29 receptions for 620 yards and two scores. He has become a solid receiver for the Packers and will be difficult to replace in the playoffs, which begin on Wild Card Weekend for Green Bay against the Philadelphia Eagles.

This past offseason, the former second-round pick saw a hamstring specialist to determine the cause of his repeated issues.

And after missing eight games last season, Watson returned to play 15 in 2024. The 620 receiving yards were also a career-high total, eclipsing the 611 he had in 2022 in 14 games played.

Watson was Green Bay’s top deep threat, which will make a Packers victory in Philadelphia much more difficult.

In response to those who booed him after sustaining the injury, Watson’s father, Tazim Wajid Wajed, defended his son by taking to social media on several occasions to castigate the fans who ripped into or mocked Watson.

Wajed said, in part, “My son made a very costly decision today to try and help his team. Being a fan and supporting a team doesn’t come with a pass to demean, degrade, and harass players and their families for any reason…”

Wajed also pointed out fans who were nasty and put them on blast.

This is not the first time Watson’s father came to his defense. When Watson suffered a high ankle sprain in October, he did the same thing and defended his son. He also fought back at the “online doctors” who thought Watson was not injured as severely as he was.
