Not many players from the University of Connecticut have been considered top prospects at their position. Offensive guard Christian Haynes has shown to be the exception ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Here’s everything you need to know about the talented and versatile Husky.
How Tall Is Christian Haynes
At 6’2″, Haynes is one of the smaller prospects among the top offensive linemen in this year’s draft. His measurable height is in just the ninth percentile of players at his position.
On the subject of his below-average measurables, his 9″ hand size is in the second percentile for his position, while his arm length and wingspan are more around the league average.
How Much Does Haynes Weigh?
At 317 pounds, Haynes is considered in the 64th percentile for overall build for an NFL guard.
His athleticism for a player of his size is impressive, though. His 5.03-second 40-yard dash time was among the fastest of interior offensive linemen, and he also put forth excellent tests during the NFL Combine and workout drills.
How Old Is Haynes?
Born on April 13, 2000, Haynes is 24 years old entering the new league year. He is originally from Bowie, Md.
What School Did Haynes Go To?
Haynes committed to Connecticut after receiving other offers from Virginia, Old Dominion, and Robert Morris.

He redshirted in his first year but eventually developed into one of the more dependable players at his position in the country.
Revisiting Haynes’ College Career
Few offensive linemen were as consistent or durable as Haynes in college football.
After being redshirted his freshman year, Haynes started 49 consecutive games over the next five seasons for the Huskies.
In 2023, Haynes helped anchor a line that finished ninth in college football in sacks given up during the season. Haynes was named to the All-American Third Team in both 2022 and 2023.
He was an All-American in both 2022 and 2023, and he was considered one of the more athletic interior offensive linemen in the country.
Haynes’ Potential in the NFL
Haynes is an athletic freak of an offensive lineman and and he has one of the highest overall ceilings of all the guards in this class. That’s something Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings agrees with in his scouting report of the UConn star.
“Across Haynes’ game, there is an over-arching need for greater control,” Cummings notes. “As a run blocker, he sometimes drifts past optimal angles and can pass up opportunities to correct leverage with over-aggression. And in pass protection, that same overaggression can leave him in the lurch against rushers who know how to set up blockers.
“All this being said, there’s a passable operational foundation present to cement Haynes as a starter early in his career, and his ceiling is one of the highest in the 2024 NFL Draft interior offensive line class. He could experiment with a switch to center, but he translates best at his most natural position: guard.”
