https://x.com/romeodunze_/status/1769780301595590901?s=46&t=i9FhtK1E_Qjo57Y2xHtTGwChris Simms is unafraid to speak his truth when it comes to NFL prospects. Just a couple of weeks ago he was adamant about his position regarding Drake Maye being the sixth-best QB in the upcoming draft, and now he has a surprising take regarding star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Chris Simms Ranks Marvin Harrison Jr. as WR3 in Draft
No one can accuse Simms of groupthink. The NFL analyst is once again putting out a ranking that looks vastly different than the consensus we’ve all grown accustomed to seeing over the last few months.
Here’s my Top 5 WRs. Rankings based on film.
Awesome group. So much to like with Nabers, Thomas, and Harrison. I just think the LSU guys are able to separate more and run by you better than Harrison pic.twitter.com/GsqoKflRYX— Chris Simms (@CSimmsQB) March 18, 2024
Simms posted on X stating, “Here’s my Top 5 WRs. Rankings based on film.
Awesome group. So much to like with Nabers, Thomas, and Harrison. I just think the LSU guys are able to separate more and run by you better than Harrison,” before breaking the group of receivers down into tiers. Tiers that are unconventional, to say the least.
In Simms’ highest tier, titled “Tier One – Explosive WR1,” he has both LSU wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. listed as one and two, respectively.
Following that is the second tier that Simms deems as “Tier Two – No Bust, NFL Ready.” In that tier, he has Harrison alone as the WR3 amongst the group.
Simms rounds out the graphic with a third tier that he titles “Tier Three – High-End Skill Sets,” where he includes Washington’s Rome Odunze and Michigan’s Roman Wilson four and five, respectively.
Odunze caught wind of the post and had an perplexed reaction to his ranking on the list.

It’s a list that is interesting, to say the least, and something that will certainly garner conversation as we draw closer to the NFL Draft in April.
NFL Fans Stunned by Simms’ WR Rankings
The names are all familiar to those who have been paying attention during draft season. However, the order is what is catching people by surprise.
Naturally, with most hot takes comes a flurry of reactions on social media, and the NFL world did not disappoint.
I see we've reached the part of the draft cycle when analysts just start throwing out alternate takes because they've run out of ways to praise the obvious top choices and they start overthinking themselveshttps://t.co/E5YHxGJA4T

One X user points out that this may just be Simms overreacting due to fatigue of the top names.
“I see we’ve reached the part of the draft cycle when analysts just start throwing out alternate takes because they’ve run out of ways to praise the obvious top choices and they start overthinking themselves”
If you wanna make an argument for Nabers over MHJ that’s fine. I don’t agree with it but I see where you’re coming from. Brian Thomas? ASSAULT https://t.co/0ZHVMpJ8zR

One X user is willing to have the conversation regarding the Nabers as WR1 takes, but the rest, not so much.

Chris Simms engagement farming again? https://t.co/fSg6NBvQdF pic.twitter.com/rwMizfZ4W9

Some on social media think Simms is just saying this for the attention. If that’s the case — it worked.
“Chris Simms engagement farming again?”
