Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Issues Statement After Weekend Car Accident

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice spoke out for the first time since his alleged involvement in a Saturday evening car crash on North Central Expressway in Dallas, Texas.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Rice offered an update on his participation in Saturday’s accident.

Rashee Rice on Car Crash: ‘I Take Full Responsibility’

“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident,” Rice wrote.

“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident.”

Rice’s lawyer, Royce West, issued a similar statement on Monday afternoon.

“On behalf of Rashee Rice, his thoughts are with everyone impacted by the automobile accident on Saturday. Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly.”

Rice’s leased Lamborghini was involved in an accident after speeding alongside a Corvette. The Lamborghini hit the center median first, starting a series of crashes that involved six vehicles.

The individuals in the Corvette and the Lamborghini fled the scene of the accident. Four people in other vehicles were treated for injuries.

TMZ shared photos from the crash site on Sunday. The network also shared a dashcam video of the incident, which is still under investigation. You can click the link in the post below to view all of TMZ’s photos and videos.

A Dallas couple injured in the accident is considering legal action, as the Dallas Morning News reported on Tuesday. Tennessee Walker, a partner at Patterson Law Group, told DMN they were traveling to a friend’s birthday party when they were hit by two cars.

“They’re angry at the situation,” Walker said. “From our perspective and their perspective, it doesn’t really matter who the people are but just the human decency element of it — the decent thing to do is to make sure that no one is harmed and comply with your legal obligations.”

The NFL indicated it is monitoring Rice’s involvement in Saturday’s crash.

Rice, a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, led the Chiefs with seven touchdown catches and finished second to Travis Kelce in receptions (79) and receiving yards (938) in his rookie season.
