The Chiefs and Jets topped off an excellent Week 4 Sunday slate. Not many had this one coming down to the wire, especially considering the way Zach Wilson has played since the Aaron Rodgers injury. But, Wilson surprised many, and nearly out-dueled the great Patrick Mahomes.

Highlights and Analysis
Final Score: Chiefs 23, Jets 20
11:12 p.m. ET: After a Wilson FUMBLE, the Chiefs got the ball back in good field position. And then, the referees decided to get involved. They made some questionable calls to extend the drive for Kansas City, but it was Mahomes’ 30-yard scramble that really stole the show. When the Chiefs got the ball back, they simply killed the clock and came away with the win. Mahomes’ slide at the 1-yard line was a dagger to anyone with a -9 ticket though.

10:53 p.m. ET: A lot of back and forth so far in the second half. The Chiefs have managed to retake the lead thanks to a FIELD GOAL. But now the Jets are driving again. Wilson is now 28 of 39 with 233 yards and 2 TDs.
Third Quarter: Chiefs 20, Jets 20
10:32 p.m. ET: Both teams exchanged three-and-outs. With under five minutes left in the third quarter, Breece Hall breaks off a massive 40-yard run to set the Jets up to potentially take the lead. What a world.
10:11 p.m. ET: Uhm. Okay. So the Jets just tied the game and Zach Wilson has looked like a younger Aaron Rodgers. *shrug emoji*
“You can’t play quarterback better than this. All these throws are perfect,” Collinsworth.
Ps, Zach Wilson ran in the 2-point conversion to tie the game 🤯 pic.twitter.com/OHnhvvC8hp

10:10 p.m. ET: Jets came out of the half like a cannonball! Wilson completes 6 passes and leads New York right back to the red zone. Who is this guy?
Second Quarter: Chiefs 20, Jets 12
9:47 p.m. ET: Jets again put together a nice little two-minute drive but can’t convert it into any points thanks the Greg Zeurlein’s missed 50-yard field goal attempt. But hold on, with only 18 seconds left, Mahomes throws his second INTERCEPTION of the night! Jets ball again. For those counting at home, that’s two picks for Mahomes and zero for Wilson. The odds of that being the case before this one started might have been +100000000000.
9:36 p.m. ET: That was quite the drive from the Chiefs, but more specifically Kadarius Toney and Pacheco. Both got absolutely demolished with big hits from the Jets’ defense but continued to get big chunk plays. However, the Jets’ defense came up big again, holding the Chiefs to just a FIELD GOAL.
9:25 p.m. ET: I take back all the sarcastic things I said earlier. Wilson looks GOOD! Although I won’t go as far as the broadcast to say that he looks like Rodgers, I will say he has improved. And after a tough start, a 2-yard TOUCHDOWN pass now has the Jets within one score of the Chiefs.
Excellent play action and touch pass by Zach Wilson put six more on the board for the #Jets! pic.twitter.com/6f4EbF5TsS

9:22 p.m. ET: The Jets settled for a field goal but then got the ball back quickly after an untimely INTERCEPTION by Mahomes. After another nice pass and a penalty, guess what? They are just outside the red zone AGAIN!
9:12 p.m. ET: Wilson is currently 8-of-11 and has completed some really nice balls to Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. Here is something we haven’t said much this season, the Jets are in the red zone!
9:09 p.m. ET: The Jets got some points! Well, kind of. Technically, the Chiefs gave them points by committing a holding penalty while in the end zone. By rule, that’s a SAFETY and the Jets get two points and the ball!
First Quarter: Chiefs 17, Jets 0
8:54 p.m. ET: Well, might be an early night for Jets fans. Maybe they can take solace in the fact that Aaron Rodgers was at this game. He even hinted that he is trying to make a return to the field this season, which would be one unbelievable turnaround time. Who knows, maybe Rodgers has found some miraculous ayahuasca that heals Achilles’ tears. Oh, also, the Chiefs scored another TOUCHDOWN. This time, a 34-yard bomb to Noah Gray.
8:42 p.m. ET: Jets go three-and-out and make the mistake of putting the ball back into Patrick Mahomes’ hands. It was a quick drive and Isiah Pacheco decided to get involved in the fun with a massive 50-yard TOUCHDOWN run. Kansas City is now up 10-0 with eight minutes left in the first quarter.
#Chiefs RB @isiah_pachecoRB, who is from Jersey City, scores the first TD tonight in NY!

8:30 p.m. ET: “Welcome to New York.” Alright, that’s one Taylor Swift reference down. Be prepared for many more during the Chiefs vs. Jets broadcast. When it comes to actual football, the Chiefs have already scored a FIELD GOAL on their opening drive. It was a quick one, with two receptions by Travis Kelce and a penalty bringing the team near the red zone. The good news? The Jets are still in it! The bad news? Zach Wilson hasn’t touched the ball yet.

Chiefs vs. Jets Picks and Predictions
All odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook unless stated otherwise.
- Spread
Chiefs -9.5 - Moneyline
Chiefs -425, Jets +330 - Over/Under
41.5 - Game Time

Blewis: I’m having a very hard time picking either side against the spread. Coming off their starters outscoring the Bears 41-0 by the middle of the third quarter, there’s no value in betting on the Chiefs in this spot, especially when they’re 1-5 ATS in their last six games as a road favorite of seven or more points. Meanwhile, I can’t stomach backing the Wilson-led Jets right now.

I can’t remember seeing a total this low in a game with Mahomes, and that’s almost entirely an indictment of how bad Wilson is. In Wilson’s last five starts, the Jets are averaging just 8.6 points per game. Yikes.
But the under is where I am leaning at the moment. It’s still at a key number as of writing this at 41.5, which makes it even more appealing to me despite it being a low total.
Through three weeks, the Chiefs’ defense has looked better than ever in the Mahomes era, with the fourth-best success rate as a unit. They feasted on a bad offense last week in the Bears and have arguably an even more advantageous matchup tonight.
While the Chiefs’ defense has been a pleasant surprise, the Jets’ defense, which was supposed to be one of the best in the NFL, has been a disappointment so far, ranking 15th in success rate and 25th in EPA per play. But they have too much talent on that defense for it to continue, and there could be extra motivation at home on prime time, like in Week 1.
Pick: Under 41.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Latest Injury Report News and Updates
Both teams ruled out starters when the Friday injury report was released. Kansas City will not have starting linebacker Nick Bolton with an ankle injury for the second straight week. Missing a member of your secondary against the Chiefs is less than ideal, but that’s the situation for the Jets with starting safety Tony Adams.

The Chiefs will also be without cornerback Jaylen Watson, who is dealing with a shoulder injury. Kansas City had no other players listed on the injury report, even though wide receiver Kadarius Toney and defensive lineman Chris Jones were limited in practice this week.
The Jets ruled out offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer with a concussion. Earlier in the week, running back Breece Hall was a limited practice participant with a knee injury, but he was at full participation by Friday.
