Week 4’s Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles matchup provides two exciting quarterbacks under center in Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts. Here’s how you can watch and listen as well as the NFL odds and prediction for Chiefs vs. Eagles.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles prediction and odds | Week 4
Odds from DraftKings sportsbook.
- Spread: Chiefs -7
- Moneyline: Chiefs -310, Eagles +245
- Over/Under: 54 (Under -110, Over -110)
The Chiefs and Eagles don’t face each other often. Throughout each franchise’s existence, the two have only matched up eight times. After those eight contests, neither team takes any bragging rights into Sunday as the series is tied at 4-4. The Chiefs, however, have won the previous two matchups between the two teams.
Both teams look completely different since they last faced. The Chiefs are in pursuit of their third Super Bowl bid in a row, while the Eagles have had a Super Bowl hangover for three years now. The most familiar face on the field is Andy Reid, now in his ninth season as the Chiefs’ head coach, spending the previous 14 years as the head man in Philadelphia.
Can the Chiefs stop Hurts, Sanders in Week 4?
Reid’s second homecoming to the City of Brotherly Love is the least of his concerns. The defense, however, is another story.
Kansas City’s defensive unit has struggled mightily, giving up over 31 points and 430 yards per game through the first three weeks. Most notably, in Week 2, against Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens.
Jackson and the Ravens’ offense put up over 251 yards on the ground vs. Kansas City. Jackson alone put up 107 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on just 16 carries.
So far, Hurts has 179 yards of his own on the ground, slightly more than Miles Sanders’ 156. As a team, the Eagles average 5.4 yards rushing but don’t tell Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni that. Philadelphia’s running backs only carried the ball 3 times in Monday night’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Chiefs vs. Eagles prediction
Ball control is vital if the Eagles want to beat the Chiefs in Week 4. We all know the explosiveness of the Chiefs’ offense; Kansas City has the sixth-most efficient offense in terms of yards per game so far in 2021.
Mahomes has looked great outside of the early turnovers, which have plagued the Chiefs’ offense as a whole. Only four teams have a worse turnover differential than Kansas City, a significant reason for their early 1-2 start.
It’s hard to go against Reid, Mahomes, and the Chiefs. Their defense makes it an appealing game to look for an upset. Can Hurts and the Eagles’ offense keep Mahomes and Co. off the field? That’s the question, and most likely, the solution towards an Eagles win. But experience ultimately wins here, and that’s why you want the Chiefs.
Prediction: Chiefs 31, Eagles 24
