Reporter Tracy Wolfson had earlier confirmed that Golden Raye was scheduled to be born Sunday.
No one happier to get back to KC than Patrick Mahomes. He told me his wife Brittany is due to give birth to their 3rd child on Sunday. If she doesn’t give birth by then she will be induced Monday. There was def extra motivation for Patrick to get that bye week! 😜 #Chiefs https://t.co/wh5lmEFUsn

The couple has long been preparing for the birth of their child. With Mahomes and his Chiefs in imperious form through the course of the 2024 NFL season, Kansas City’s ability to earn a bye week was never in real doubt.
The extra week of rest has helped Mahomes by allowing him to spend some quality family time. The birth of his daughter will undoubtedly be a huge morale booster ahead of his seventh Divisional Round game in as many years.
Brittany Mahomes, who has cheered her husband on in person for practically all of his NFL games, will be expected to be back at Arrowhead Stadium for Kansas City’s Divisional Round game against the Houston Texans along with her in-laws.
The Texans struggled in the second half of the regular season, but they proved their mettle with their Wild Card Weekend win over Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers. Nevertheless, the back-to-back defending Super Bowl champions are heavily favored at home in this matchup.
Mahomes and Co. are chasing NFL history, attempting to become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row. While they lost some key pieces on offense to injury, the Chiefs were able to snag wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in a trade ahead of the deadline, and have since been clicking.
