Chiefs Predicted To Land $90 Million Superstar WR To Revamp Offense Around Patrick Mahomes After Super Bowl Heartbreak

The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59, 40-22. This defeat has many questioning what the Chiefs’ offense will look like next season, considering their severe lack of production throughout the night.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ top wide receiver, Rashee Rice, missed the majority of the 2024 campaign, and the rest of the weapon room — including Marquise Brown and DeAndre Hopkins — left much to be desired.

Considering the amount of Chiefs WRs that are projected to be free agents (five), it could open the door for a blockbuster trade reuniting Mahomes with one of his favorite weapons of his career.

Chiefs Predicted To Trade for WR Tyreek Hill

It became quite obvious after the Miami Dolphins’ season-ending loss that superstar WR Tyreek Hill is fed up with the organization. Assuming the Dolphins will give and actually deal the 30-year-old elsewhere, Kansas City’s front office should not hesitate to pick up the phone.

NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report predicts the Chiefs will reunite with the five-time All-Pro wideout via trade.

“Of course, if the Miami Dolphins decide to make Tyreek Hill available, it’s not too difficult to imagine a Chiefs reunion. His 2025 base salary will be just $10 million, and Kansas City hasn’t exactly shied away from bringing back former players,” Knox wrote.

The Chiefs’ offense ranked No. 12 in PFSN’s Offense+ metric while Mahomes slotted at No. 10 in our QB+ stat. Kansas City’s offense not being seen at or near the top of the league is a surprise, and Hill could boost both of those rankings. He’s fresh off his worst season in years with less than 1,000 receiving yards, but the season prior, he recorded 119 receptions for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Losing Brown, the No. 43 free agent in PFSN’s top 100, is not ideal, but replacing him with one of the fastest and most explosive weapons in the NFL is a recipe for success, especially when considering the familiarity aspect. WRs Justin Watson, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Brown, and Hopkins are also free agents.

Knox did discuss the likelihood of a blockbuster move like this taking place, writing, “It would be surprising to see Kansas City orchestrate a major trade during the offseason. The Chiefs have drafted well in recent years, and Veach will value draft capital at this point in the season. If he does make a trade in 2025, it’ll likely come during the season, as was the case in 2024.”

After a heartbreaking loss on the biggest stage, bringing Mahomes’ most reliable wide receiver back to Kansas City is the perfect way to return next season.
