    The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t signed star defensive tackle Chris Jones to a contract extension yet, although talks are reportedly going well. Many expect the Chiefs to reach a massive deal with Jones before the NFL‘s new league year begins next week.

    Chris Jones Contract Update: NFL Insider Reports Positive Talks With Chiefs Ahead of Free Agency

    After Kansas City and Jones worked through a messy negotiation last season, things are reportedly moving much smoother this time around. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, a deal isn’t done yet, but things are a lot more positive than they have been in previous negotiations between both sides.

    Jones is a franchise cornerstone in Kansas City and a key player for their dominant defense. The Chiefs understand how important Jones is to their championship success — it only seems like a matter of time before both sides agree to a massive deal.

    Chiefs rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice looked like a star at times during his first season in the NFL. Yet, Kansas City struggled to find production at wide receiver from anyone else besides Rice. Therefore, it could be a position that they address in free agency.

    Pro Football Network’s Dakota Randall released their list of 10 free agency predictions, including the Chiefs giving Mahomes a new weapon to throw to. Randall predicts that Kansas City will sign former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe Davis in free agency.

    Following their victory in Super Bowl 58, the Chiefs have already prioritized keeping three players on their dominant defense. Nonetheless, they’ll need to add more talent to fill out their roster in an attempt for the NFL’s first-ever three-peat.

    Following the NFL’s announcement of awarded compensatory picks, Kansas City will now have six draft picks to work with in the 2024 NFL Draft. While that doesn’t seem like much, their six picks are all in the fifth round or earlier. Kansas City officially received a fifth-round compensatory pick, the 172nd overall pick.

    Pro Football Network’s Keff Ciardello released their latest mock draft on Friday and has the Chiefs landing an intriguing wide receiver with the final pick in the first round. Given the depth of this year’s wide receiver group, Kansas City should be able to land an immediate starter on either Day 1 or Day 2 of the event.
