‘Welcome Back to the Arrowhead Invitational’ – Chiefs Fans Celebrate After Patrick Mahomes and Co. Secure Home-Field Advantage for Playoffs

    Published on

Chiefs fans on social media celebrated as Patrick Mahomes and Co. sealed the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a win against the Steelers on Christmas.

Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 29-10 win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas. With this win, the Chiefs have secured home-field advantage for the postseason, as they will finish the regular season as the top seed in the AFC.

Getting a bye in the first round of the playoffs and having a home-field advantage significantly increases the Chiefs’ chances of making another Super Bowl.

Fans React to Patrick Mahomes’ Team Securing AFC’s Top Seed

Chiefs fans on social media were thrilled after the team’s win against the Steelers. They know how important it is to finish with the best record in the conference.

    Here’s how the fans reacted:

“Arrowhead Invitational is back from its One Year Traveling Show,” said one fan.

Another fan added, “The greatest athlete [Mahomes] since Michael Jordan is back, and I guess he has to remind everyone just how good he is for the third time.”

“The Chiefs are just too good AND consistent. 3-peat loading…” wrote a fan.

“In a league of their own! Absolute stars,” said another fan.

Since Mahomes became the Chiefs’ starting quarterback, the AFC West team has made six straight AFC Championships. With a potential win in the Divisional Round, they will make their seventh straight appearance in the AFC Championship Game, with only one of them being played away from Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs’ potential Divisional Round opponent could be the Houston Texans or the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kansas City has already defeated both teams this year and will like their chances against them.

With the way things are shaping up, KC is in a good position to make its third straight Super Bowl appearance and the fifth of the Mahomes era.

Chiefs Starters Will Have Ample Amount of Rest for Playoffs

Kansas City has nothing to play for in Week 18 against the Denver Broncos. They are expected to rest all their key starters, and it will help the Broncos as they need a win to make the playoffs.

The Chiefs will have a couple weeks of rest before the Divisional Round, allowing players a decent rest period to heal from the hits they took throughout the regular season and prepare to fulfill their dream of becoming the first NFL team to win three straight Super Bowls.

Mahomes is still not fully healthy as he is dealing with an ankle injury, while Chris Jones missed the Christmas Day game due to a calf injury. Left tackle D.J. Humphries has also missed the last two games due to a hamstring issue, but he will likely be ready for the playoffs.

In the last few seasons, the Chiefs have already started playing better as we head closer to the playoffs, and the same thing has happened this year. The win against the Steelers was their first win by more than one possession in 16 games, and they are well-positioned to get similar results in the postseason.

Mahomes has not thrown an interception in his last six games. During this span, he has thrown for 1,524 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing 64.6% of his throws with a passer rating of 98.1. The Chiefs quarterback is ready to perform on the biggest stage, and it will be very hard for other teams to stop him from winning another Super Bowl.
