The NFL trade season has just begun, and fans are already on the edge of their seats, eager to see how the upcoming season’s rosters will take shape. Among the free agency and trade buzz is a wide receiver who, like many others, has expressed interest in leaving his current team.
While media outlets speculate on where he might land, NFL legend Chad Johnson has already given his stamp of approval—and urged Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to acquire the star wideout.

Chad Johnson Wants the Cowboys to Trade for DK Metcalf
Johnson, known for using his social media presence to push narratives, recently nudged Jones to make a move that could cost $31.8 million. According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Seahawks are reportedly seeking a first- and third-round pick in exchange for DK Metcalf.
Meanwhile, Fox Sports NFL shared a post asking fans which team might acquire the Seahawks star.
“Who will acquire DK Metcalf?” the post read, featuring franchise logos of the Raiders, Cowboys, Packers, Chargers, and Patriots. It also allowed fans to speculate on whether another team could land Metcalf.
Johnson reshared the post with the caption “Jerry Jones,” likely urging the Cowboys to make a move.

If Jones heeds Johnson’s advice, Metcalf would reunite with former Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who is now the Cowboys’ head coach. Having played under Schottenheimer before, Metcalf would likely fit right into the system and provide an instant boost to Dallas’ offense.
Metcalf, who signed a three-year, $72 million contract extension in 2022, is reportedly seeking a deal worth around $30 million per year. Additionally, some speculate that he wants to join a team with a better shot at winning a Super Bowl, considering the Seahawks’ last playoff appearance came in 2022.
How Do the Other Options Stack Up for Metcalf?
Several teams have emerged as potential landing spots for Metcalf. The Patriots are one of them, especially since they are looking to pair a playmaker with rookie quarterback Drake Maye. However, acquiring Metcalf could require New England to give up the No. 4 overall pick, as Seattle is reportedly looking for a first-round selection.
The Packers also need a top-tier receiver for Jordan Love, but it remains to be seen if they’re willing to part with valuable draft capital. Meanwhile, the Chargers and head coach Jim Harbaugh could integrate Metcalf into their offense alongside rookie receiver Ladd McConkey.
However, some experts believe the Raiders might be the best fit. They have the second-most cap space in the NFL and a need for a wide receiver. A move to Las Vegas would also reunite Metcalf with Pete Carroll, his former head coach in Seattle.
Perhaps this is the right time for Jones to take Johnson’s advice. Metcalf could be the missing piece for a Cowboys team that hasn’t won a Super Bowl since the 1996 season.
Way too much to ask for . Cowboys need their draft capital . Too many needs for team.
