‘I Really Hope He Win It’ – Chad Johnson Makes His NFL MVP Pick After Lamar Jackson Breaks Michael Vick’s Record

NFL legend Chad Johnson believes that Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is most deserving for the MVP Award this season.

Earlier in the week, NFL legend Chad Johnson highlighted how impressed he has been with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson this season. While appearing with Shannon Sharpe on the “Nightcap” podcast, Johnson explained how he wants to see Jackson not only win the league’s MVP award this campaign but also the Super Bowl.

In yesterday’s Christmas Day action, Jackson and the Ravens defeated the C.J. Stroud-led Houston Texans in dominant fashion, 31-2. In the game, Jackson finished with two passing touchdowns while adding 87 rushing yards and another score on the ground. The win puts Baltimore in the lead of the AFC North division and into the No. 3 seed of the AFC.

What Did Chad Johnson Say About Lamar Jackson?

On the podcast episode, Johnson explained how Jackson was his choice to win the league MVP and how he wanted to see him silence any further disrespect he has received since entering the NFL.

“You know, we don’t think he could be a quarterback in this NFL. We think you should try running back. Just all this stuff he had to overcome, all the obstacles and the hurdles, and to see where he has come now, I can honestly say … I really hope he wins it, the whole thing, this year,” Johnson said.

Johnson continued by clarifying how he wants to see Jackson win “not just MVP” but also a “chip,” meaning winning a Super Bowl championship.

Will Jackson Win His Third NFL MVP Award This Year?

Jackson is firmly in the NFL MVP award conversation, but there are numerous other candidates for the award this year as well.

Fellow Ravens teammate Derrick Henry, superstar Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen are all in the mix for the NFL’s top honor due to their elite play this campaign.

On the year, Jackson has thrown for 3,955 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. In addition, he has added 852 yards on the ground and another four touchdowns rushing to add to his impressive totals. His 852 rushing yards also broke Michael Vick’s previous record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season.

While it remains to be definitively seen whether he wins his third NFL MVP award at the end of the season, it’s evident that Johnson believes Jackson is the most deserving of both the prestigious award and the Super Bowl.
