Miami quarterback Cam Ward is widely viewed as one of the two best quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class, alongside Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Which one of the two will be drafted first is up for debate, but it seems clear that they will be the first two quarterbacks drafted in April. On “The Joel Klatt Show: A College Football Podcast” on Feb. 12, Joel Klatt conducted a mock draft and revealed something spicy for Ward’s future.

Joel Klatt Makes a Bold Prediction for Cam Ward in the 2025 NFL Draft
Klatt conducted a mock draft and had the Titans trade down to the third pick with the New York Giants. As a result, he had the Giants select Sanders first, followed by the Browns grabbing Abdul Carter second. He had this to say about Tennessee’s pick.
“Now it’s Tennessee at 3 after they flip those picks — Giants go up to No. 1, Tennessee at 3. This is going to be my last trade and this is why I did it. They’re going to get Cam Ward. If they can’t get something done with Shedeur Sanders, and again, I just don’t think Shedeur Sanders is going to be willing to play in Tennessee. With the history of what that organization has done from a quarterback position standpoint.
“So, Tennessee can take Cam Ward at No. 1 or trade back to No. 3, still get Cam Ward, and get draft capital. Well, to me that’s a no-brainer. Ok, so that’s why they’re moving back. They take Cam Ward, I really like Cam Ward a lot. I think that this guy is a talented player. If Carter was on the board, I think they would need to think long and hard. Tennessee was bottom five in sacks. But they need to get their quarterback.
“Will Levis just hasn’t worked the last couple of years. Cam Ward fits, he’s on my board, the second-best quarterback. I think there’s quite a drop after those top two guys and you’ve got other teams sitting there like Las Vegas, like the Jets potentially that are going to be needing quarterback help. So, you’ve got to take him there. I think from Tennessee’s standpoint, they’re just going to be hopeful that Cleveland does go Abdul Carter.”
Sanders has been linked to the Giants on several occasions. As a result, it would make sense for the Titans to trade down if they can, assuming they prefer to draft Ward.
In PFSN’s most recent mock, Ward also lands with the Giants.
From Brentley Weissman: “Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen enter next season firmly on the hot seat and must perform well to keep their jobs. The team desperately needs a new quarterback and Cam Ward has the playmaking ability to excel in Daboll’s offense.
Ward is a big-armed quarterback with outstanding ability to find the open man at all three levels of the field. He has the highest upside of all the passers in this year’s class. Ward showing promise as a rookie passer may just do the trick in saving this regime’s jobs.”
