Legendary Dallas Cowboys offensive guard Zack Martin officially announced his retirement at 34, ending an 11-year career that saw him dominate the trenches and establish himself as one of the best linemen of his era. Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb took a moment on social media to acknowledge one of the team’s biggest losses.

CeeDee Lamb Sends Off Zack Martin With Emotional Message
Martin, a nine-time All-Pro and an eight-time Pro Bowler, has been a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ offensive line since being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
He is known for his toughness, leadership, and elite-level consistency, keeping quarterbacks protected and opening lanes for the run game. During his career, he played a crucial role in multiple top-10 NFL offenses and was widely regarded as the best guard of his generation.
Upon hearing the news of Martin’s retirement, Lamb kept his reaction short but powerful. Taking to Instagram, he wrote, “The freaking GOAT Zack Martin. I’m 4eva grateful to have played with you.”

Lamb’s message reflects his deep respect for Martin and his teammates. The two shared the field for five seasons, and the wide receiver had previously spoken about how much the veteran lineman meant to him.
The 2024 season, however, marked the beginning of the end. Martin suffered an ankle injury in early December, forcing him to miss the final seven games of the year. While the Cowboys were already struggling in the run game, ranking just 27th in rushing yards per game, his absence only worsened things. Despite his injury, Martin remained engaged with the team, mentoring younger players and providing leadership in the locker room.
After Martin’s injury in December, Lamb praised his leadership and influence, calling him a “brother” and thanking him for teaching him how to be a professional.
With Martin stepping away, the Cowboys have yet another major hole to fill. The offensive line was already a concern in 2024, and now they’ll need to replace a future Hall of Famer. Dallas will likely address the position in free agency or the draft; Martin’s presence will be difficult to replace.
Given his accolades and sustained excellence, a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction seems inevitable for Martin. For now, Cowboys fans and players alike are left to reflect on his incredible career and everything he gave to the franchise.
