CeeDee Lamb Injury Update: What We Know About the Cowboys WR’s Availability for Week 3

After their embarrassing performance in Week 2, the Cowboys will be looking to bounce back this week. But will that include CeeDee Lamb?

It was a long offseason for CeeDee Lamb as he stayed away from the Dallas Cowboys in search of a new contract. The star wide receiver eventually got the deal he was in search of, but it cost him all of training camp while doing so.

With that time away, Lamb has been behind the eight-ball since arriving back in Dallas and has now been placed on the Cowboys’ first Week 3 injury report.

Here is the latest injury news concerning Lamb.

Will CeeDee Lamb Play in Week 3?

Lamb, out of nowhere, popped up on the Cowboys’ first injury report on Wednesday afternoon.

After playing the entire game in Week 2 and finishing with four receptions, 90 yards receiving, and one touchdown, it appears an ankle issue is now bothering Lamb as he prepares for Week 3.

There was no indication coming out of the game that there was an issue, and the Cowboys are typically generous with giving their star players and veterans time off during the week. So while it isn’t great to see Lamb on the list, there is no reason to panic just yet.

It’s too early to say officially, but as things stand, it’s probably still a safe bet to expect Lamb out on the field as his Cowboys take on the Ravens on Sunday afternoon.

Who Would Step Up in Lamb’s Absence?

Luckily for the Cowboys, if they were to have to play without Lamb, they have had a lot of practice this offseason doing so.

With the star pass catcher staying away from the Cowboys for most of the offseason, much of the team’s work leading up to the season was done without the benefit of Lamb’s services.

In his absence, Brandin Cooks became WR1, while Jalen Tolbert slid into the No. 2 spot, followed by KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Brooks, and Ryan Flournoy.

While it’s easy to concede that none of these players are Lamb’s level, the work each of them got with Dak Prescott this offseason is invaluable in a situation like this.

It would be safe to assume that production would be down and that playing the Cowboys’ style of offense would be much harder if Lamb is out. However, with all of the reps the receivers got in his absence, Dallas is well-equipped, at least in a prepared sense, to withstand the potential loss.

Again, no one should hit the panic button just yet, as the overall sense around Lamb is that he should be OK. This is yet another reminder of how quickly things can change in the NFL.

Dallas, like the rest of the NFL world, will monitor this situation as the week progresses. As for the names mentioned above, it may be time to put into games what they have been practicing together since May.
