CeeDee Lamb Injury Update: Will the Cowboys WR Miss Time?

The Dallas Cowboys finished the 2022 NFL preseason with their new No. 1 receiving weapon, CeeDee Lamb, on the sidelines. Lamb missed all three preseason games due to a foot injury he suffered early on in training camp. Will Lamb miss time during the regular season, and how does this impact his potential fantasy football outlook?

CeeDee Lamb injury update

When the Cowboys decided to move on from Amari Cooper during the offseason, the expectations were that Lamb would be able to step into the WR1 role immediately. This will be Lamb’s third season in the league, and in that short amount of time, he has solidified himself as one of the best at his position.

In his rookie season, he put up nearly 1,000 receiving yards (935) with five touchdowns. He followed that up with 1,102 yards and six touchdowns in 2021.

With Michael Gallup likely to miss some time to start the year and the newly acquired James Washington also injured, there is a ton of opportunity for Lamb — if he is healthy. Although Lamb sat out all three preseason games, he has been catching passes from Dak Prescott during pregame warmups and participating in all team drills during practice.

With that said, it looks like Lamb’s foot laceration injury is not serious enough for him to miss actual game time. Now that he is the top dog in Dallas’ offense, the team is likely just being cautious after the foot scare.

“The stars seem to be aligning for Lamb to be worth his draft price. While it would be nice if Lamb had more room to outperform his ADP, if we think a player is going to produce, he’s worth drafting. He is currently ranked 20th overall and as the WR8 in PFN’s consensus 2022 PPR fantasy rankings.”
