Tony Catalina’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Early Run on QBs, Keon Coleman to the Bengals, and the Bears Add Rome Odunze

2024 NFL Mock Draft season is full-go, and with so much left to be decided, let's put together some educated guesses with what we know now.

With NFL playoff teams now seeing their seasons end, more organizations have officially switched to offseason mode like most of the league. That means it is also officially 2024 NFL Mock Draft season for those fans. Although the season ended in disappointment, teams and fans alike can now turn the page to roster improvements for the new year through the 2024 NFL Draft.

    1-Round NFL Mock Draft

    1) Chicago Bears (From CAR): Caleb Williams, QB, USC

There will be endless conversations regarding Caleb Williams and the No. 1 overall pick as we crawl closer to this year’s draft, but as the days continue to fall, there’s reason to believe that what we all thought all along will eventually come true.

Williams will be a Bear, and Chicago will now turn to the future with a different young QB prospect, as it looks to be doing its homework to put him in the best position possible to succeed.

    2) Washington Commanders: Drake Maye, QB, UNC

It will surprise no one when the Commanders take a QB with their first pick. With a new ownership group in place and their first crack at doing the draft and the offseason their way, look for the Commanders’ new regime to look for a signal-caller they can bring into the future.

With Williams going a pick earlier, they take who they deem to be the next best option and grab Drake Maye with very little hesitation. With good size, ability, and arm strength, Maye is a quality pick for a Washington team looking to change the fortunes of a franchise.

    3) New England Patriots: Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU

It’s a new era in Foxborough, and with that comes the need for a fresh start at QB as well. While they are staring at Marvin Harrison Jr. square in the face with pick No. 3, the question remains — who would be the one throwing him the ball? With that comes a third straight QB selection to start this year’s draft.

Jayden Daniels is a baller, a Heisman Trophy winner, and a dynamic QB who can help ring in a new chapter for New England football. New head coach Jerod Mayo is going to do it his way, which will surely look different than how Bill Belichick ran things before him, and with that comes Daniels and his unique ability as they begin Year 1 together.

    4) Arizona Cardinals: Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame

Joe Alt is ridiculous athletically — a former tight end turned tackle who brings that rare ability as a big man in space, but a big man who has the mindset of a skill player. What he can do within the parameters of the tackle position is impressive, and his engrained athletic traits make him all that more clean of a prospect.

The Cardinals take Alt and don’t regret the decision whatsoever, as they have a tackle for now and the future ready to roll from Day 1.

    5) Los Angeles Chargers: Marvin Harrison Jr., OSU

Finally, the “fall” of what is arguably the best player in this year’s draft comes to an end. After profiling as a potential top-three pick, Harrison Jr. lands in LA with the Chargers.

The Ohio State wideout is truly dynamic, a clear-cut freak at his position, and will bring instant offense to any team he joins. The Chargers got a good one they can insert into their plans, and regardless of the offense they will run next season, Harrison Jr. is going to add value to it from the get-go.

    6) New York Giants: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

A gifted route runner, a playmaker with the ball in his hands, and a home-run threat every time he touches the ball – what more could you want from a wide receiver? Despite his lack of elite size at the position, Malik Nabers is just a flat-out quality football player.

Adding the young LSU WR to the Giants’ offense will bring some more big-play ability to a unit that desperately needs it. In a deep WR group this year, Nabers should be and will be mentioned at the top with the rest of them.

    7) Tennessee Titans: Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State

The Titans need help at tackle, and Olu Fashanu is just what the doctor ordered. The Penn State tackle can be a plug-and-play prospect for a Titans team that can look vastly different next season.

Fashanu is one of the top prospects in this year’s class, and certain teams will lean one way or another with him and some of the other top guys. However, with the Titans possibly turning to Will Levis for the future, Fashanu is their man here, and getting some offensive-line help can never hurt.

    8) Atlanta Falcons: Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama

The first edge rusher is off the board at pick No. 8, and the Falcons got a good one in Dallas Turner.

With obvious athleticism when you pop on the tape and the ability to bend the edge with the best of them in this class, Turner has all of the tools to have an immediate impact this year.

    9) Chicago Bears: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

If Rome Odunze went earlier than No. 9, no one would bat an eyelash over it. He is such a dynamic playmaker; literally any team could use his services.

The Husky WR is a true playmaker with the ball in his hands, and with the Bears already drafting Williams at the top of the draft, pairing him with a true wide receiver threat to grow together is a great organizational move.

    10) New York Jets: Brock Bowers, TE, UGA

When it comes to the tight end position, it is Brock Bowers — and then everyone else. The dynamic tight end has been productive since the moment he stepped on campus at UGA, and no one believes that won’t be the case at the next level.

Adding a premier tight end who can be in-line, out wide, block, catch, and everything in between is going to be a great addition to an Aaron Rodgers-led offense. The combination of the two together may produce eye-popping numbers in Year 1.

    11) Minnesota Vikings: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

Terrion Arnold has a chance to be another quality defensive back to come out of Alabama and will see college teammate Kool-Aid McKinstry be called not long after him as well. Adding Arnold to the secondary of the Vikings will surely help a group that was carved up at times.

Terrion has shown the ability to be comfortable in man or zone and has seemingly grown at the position every year in college. The best is yet to come for him, and the Vikings may be the beneficiaries of that development sooner rather than later.

    12) Denver Broncos: Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA

If there is one thing Laiatu Latu knows how to do, it’s rushing the passer. A true QB nightmare coming off the edge in a league where that skill is paramount on a defense, the Broncos are getting a good one.

Every team in the league will tell you that tackles and edge rushers are how you can be successful in this league, and with Latu staring them in the face at No. 12, the Broncos will be gitty to turn that card in.

    13) Las Vegas Raiders: Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

The Raiders’ defense has built an identity of toughness and has been looking to add playmakers at every opportunity they can. Adding Kool-Aid to mix his scheme versatility and his ball skills will be a welcome addition to this Raiders defensive group.

Regardless of who is manning the sidelines, McKinstry’s skills will translate schemes, and having a young CB who you know you can trust on the outside is worth its weight in gold during this era of NFL football.

    14) New Orleans Saints: JC Latham, OT, Alabama

After a season in which Derek Carr was running for his life for most of it, adding a tackle from Alabama like JC Latham seems to make too much sense.

There are playmakers to be had at this juncture in the draft, but protecting the QB should be priority No. 1 for the Saints this offseason.

    15) Indianapolis Colts: Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State

Jared Verse jumped off the tape as a member of a very good FSU defense, and he’s a true disruptive pass rusher who will bring juice to a Colts defense that could use more edge help.

There is skill refinement needed to truly unlock his full potential, but Verse has the ability to be an impact player in the NFL from Day 1.

    16) Seattle Seahawks: Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson

Devon Witherspoon last year, and now Nate Wiggins this year. If the Seahawks pull the trigger on bringing Wiggins to the Pacific Northwest, it could signal trouble for NFC West wide receivers for years to come.

MORE: 2024 NFL Draft Big Board

A real talent who could step right in and be a true asset in a young Seahawks secondary, this move makes too much sense right now and would be a statement pick for a Seahawks team that already got it right at the same spot last year.

    17) Jacksonville Jaguars: Jer’Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois

Defensive tackles in the first round aren’t the sexiest of picks, but none of that matters when you draft a guy who has the ability of Jer’Zhan Newton.

With his size and ability to fill multiple spots across a defensive line, the Jaguars feel like they got a steal in the middle of the first round with this one.

    18) Cincinnati Bengals: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Who knows how free agency will shake out, with Ja’Marr Chase expected to command a big chunk of money and maybe forcing the Bengals to have to make tough decisions elsewhere. Adding Keon Coleman to the mix ensures that they have another playmaker on their offense and one with a team-friendly rookie deal on the books at that.

Coleman is a big-bodied WR who is capable of going up and getting the ball and would be a welcomed addition to a pass-catching group that Joe Burrow can continue to thrive in 2024.

    19) Los Angeles Rams: Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State

Chop Robinson to the Rams makes too much sense. Sometimes, it’s better to not get cute, and when you see a player/team fit – you plug it in. Robinson here at this spot is exactly that.

His ability to get after the pass rusher and use his athletic ability to navigate space and make plays will make him a lot of fun on an already talented Rams defense.

    20) Pittsburgh Steelers: Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State

The Steelers getting Taliese Fuaga here is tremendous value.

The Oregon State tackle has a chance to make an immediate impact, and getting him to start the 20s when there were several other landing spots for him earlier in the round is something Pittsburgh will smile about when turning in the card.

    21) Miami Dolphins: Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

The Dolphins have all the speed in the world; now, let’s secure the offensive line with a productive tackle to protect Tua and the boys. Amarius Mims adds a tackle to the mix and keeps the Dolphins’ offense humming as they continue to work the ball around to their track team of options in 2024.

    22) Philadelphia Eagles: Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa

The Eagles need secondary help, and after a quality 2022 out of their veteran cornerback group, there was a sharp decline in 2023. DeJean adds unique skill to the group and has a chance to come in and make an immediate impact both on defense and in the special-teams room.

    23) Houston Texans (From CLE): Troy Fautanu, OG, Washington

No question about it – the Texans have their QB of the future. After a home run of a draft last year, the Texans followed that up by adding offensive line to help ensure C.J. Stroud stays upright as he carves NFL defenses.

Troy Fautanu does possess the ability to play tackle at the next level, but most would agree that the sky is the limit for the Washington OL with a kick inside. Add Fautanu to the mix and continue to prosper, Houston.

    24) Dallas Cowboys: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson

Was there a bigger glaring need anywhere than that of the Cowboys when it came to linebacker help this year? The team lost rookie DeMarvion Overshown in training camp and then saw Leighton Vander Esch go down for the season in November due to a neck injury.

Trotter would come in and immediately be a plug-and-play upgrade at the position, making the Cowboys better against the run but also allowing some other guys like Markquese Bell to go back to playing their more natural positions in the process.

    25) Green Bay Packers: Kamren Kinchens, S, Miami

The Packers have a lot of promising prospects on their roster, as they are currently the youngest team in the NFL. With that comes growing pains but a promising future as well.

The Packers have struggled in the secondary a bit this year and have been taken advantage of at times in the back end as a result. Add Kamren Kinchens to your secondary, and let him roam back there and make plays.

    26) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU

A true run blocker at heart who is still refining his skills as a pure pass protector, Kingsley Suamataia can come in to solidify a Buccaneers offensive line and bring some more nasty to the group. There is still more growth to be had for the BYU tackle, but the future could be extremely bright for him if put into a quality situation early on.

    27) Arizona Cardinals (From HOU): Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

The Cardinals are building around Kyler Murray, they say, and what better way to do that than to give him some more playmakers on the outside? Thomas at pick No. 27 feels like a heck of a value pick, and the big-bodied pass catcher who can take a top off a defense is a nice blend of size and speed this Cardinals offensive staff can get the most out of.

    28) Buffalo Bills: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia

The Bills could use secondary help, and Kamari Lassiter can come in and be an impact player on the outside for this tough defense. Whether due to injury or draft picks not panning out, the Bills’ need for a quality cornerback is met here late in the opening round.

MORE: 2024 NFL Draft Scouting Reports

Lassiter has been a quality player for a quality program and will fit right into what the Bills are trying to do defensively.

    29) Kansas City Chiefs: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas

The Chiefs need to give Mahomes more help; that much has been evident in 2023. Despite him being Houdini and able to make plays out of thin air, a more consistent pass-catching presence is needed to complement budding star Rashee Rice.

Adding Adonai Mitchell to the mix, along with Rice and Travis Kelce, makes for a formidable group that Mahomes will surely appreciate.

    30) Detroit Lions: Kalen King, CB, Penn State

Kalen King being the sixth CB taken in this mock draft just drives home the importance of having quality cornerbacks to match the growing list of dynamic receivers and explosive NFL offenses.

The Lions have young pass rushers and exciting linebacker pieces, and now they can add another young talent to the back end of their defense to come in and match the energy and culture Dan Campbell is building in Motown.

    31) San Francisco 49ers: Graham Barton, OG, Duke

Graham Barton getting down to the 49ers with the 31st pick in the draft feels like stealing. The Duke offensive lineman is nasty, plays with an edge, and can do a variety of different things for the 49ers’ offense.

Barton will likely be an interior player at the next level, and by landing in a Kyle Shanahan system, he will have a chance to be a mauler at the next level that helps keep the 49ers’ well-oiled offensive machine running.

    32) Baltimore Ravens: Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona

A tremendous value pick here for the Ravens, Jordan Morgan comes in and could be a tackle for right now or future. Building out the protection as the Ravens look to be a dynamic running team centered around Lamar Jackson and this wide array of weapons is never a bad thing.

The Ravens, fresh off a Super Bowl title in this scenario, would turn this card in feeling good about who’s being added to their locker room. The future is bright for Morgan in Baltimore.
