With the pinnacle contest of the season now complete and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crowned as NFL Super Bowl LV champions, we move into what’s expected to be a crazy offseason — one which already started with a trade of quarterbacks, including Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff — that caught many by surprise. Reports state we should expect more signal-callers on the move sooner rather than later. Here are the latest trade rumors I’m hearing about Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold, and others.

Will the Philadelphia Eagles trade Carson Wentz?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz could be involved in a trade package in just a matter of days. So, where will he end up?
Sources tell me the Chicago Bears are presently the frontrunners to obtain Wentz in a deal. However, don’t discount the Indianapolis Colts or San Francisco 49ers.
The situation for Wentz in Philadelphia deteriorated quicker than anyone could have imagined, after the former first-round pick signed a 4-year, $128 million contract extension in June of 2019.
While media reported a rift between Wentz and former head coach Doug Pederson, those with knowledge of the situation tell me the quarterback’s relationship with the Eagles’ front office, as well as Pederson, quickly went south during the season.
If and when Wentz is traded, Jalen Hurts will take over the reins as the Eagles’ starting quarterback.
What happens to Mitchell Trubisky if Carson Wentz is traded to the Chicago Bears?
If the Chicago Bears end up with Wentz, what then becomes of Mitchell Trubisky? The expectations are that Trubisky ends up with a team where he would have to compete for the starting job. The New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos were franchises brought to my attention.
Will the New York Jets trade Sam Darnold?
Carson Wentz isn’t the only quarterback that might be traded. Sam Darnold is the other quarterback whose name has recently been thrown around as a signal-caller on the move. This is more the result of teams inquiring about Darnold rather than the Jets actively shopping their 2018 first-round pick.
Sources tell me they feel it’s a real possibility the Indianapolis Colts end up with Darnold. Yet, the 49ers will also be in the mix.

If Colts general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Frank Reich trade for Darnold, it would be more than ironic. Most will remember the Jets gave the Colts a bunch of Day 2 picks over two drafts. This allowed the Jets to move up three spots, from the sixth selection to the third selection, to assure themselves a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft. Of course, that quarterback turned out to be Sam Darnold.
Is it a mistake to trade Sam Darnold?
There are a number of people in the league who feel it would be a mistake for the Jets to trade Darnold. As I reported as far back as November, teams still believe Darnold will be a quality starter in the league if coached properly.
More to the point, those I’ve spoken with believe Darnold is the perfect fit for the offensive system that will be implemented by the Jets’ new offensive coordinator, Mike LaFleur.
Marcus Mariota also on the move?
Finally, sources tell me Marcus Mariota is drawing interest and is likely to be traded by the Raiders. The former second overall pick signed a two-year deal with Las Vegas last March.
