Cam Newton hasn’t been a regular starting NFL quarterback for a few seasons now. But his name always seems to resurface every few months, for one reason or another.
Sometimes it’ll be in connection with a team that’s encountered a sudden QB vacancy. Once, it was because Antonio Brown invited Newton to play with him for the Albany Empire, a team neither player would ever actually suit up for (though Newton, at least, never intended to).
But that’s a whole other story.
Cam Newton Gets Into Verbal Altercation at a Football Camp
Anyway, Newton’s latest foray with the spotlight was the result of a verbal altercation between Newton and what appears to be a young attendee or spectator at a football camp of some sort.
Fan: How many rings you got? We got the same amount.
Cam Newton: None but we don’t got the same bank account.

In the clip, Newton can be seen quite animatedly approaching the cameraman. One can pretty safely surmise that there may have been some antagonizing going on before the videographer activated the record function.
Nonetheless, the exchange that followed doesn’t necessarily reflect splendidly on Newton. The spectator asks Newton, who lost his lone Super Bowl appearance as quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, how many rings he has.
Newton defiantly proclaims, “None!”
To which the man comes back with: “We got the same amount.”
Newton pulls his trump card and cements himself as the victor with his clap-back, “But we don’t got the same bank account.”
The 2015 NFL MVP has a point. It’s unlikely the fellow chirping Newton has matched his career earnings of over $130 million, per Sportskeeda.
Newton could’ve left it there, and all would’ve been well and good. But he decided to punctuate his finishing move with an over-the-top masturbatory gesture. Of course, it’s not the end of the world for Newton. As he so eloquently noted, his pockets aren’t hurting any.
The 34-year-old has declared an intent to continue his playing career as recently as April, per NBC Sports. One suspects interest hasn’t exactly been overwhelming, given Newton’s present and ongoing status as a free agent.
However, all it’ll take is one injury in training camp for a team to kick the tires on one of the best rushing quarterbacks in league history, even if only as a short-term fill-in.
If nothing else, it’d give Newton the chance to pad his bank account a little more.
