The Caleb Williams-led Chicago Bears faced a disappointing 18-15 loss against Jayden Daniels’ Washington Commanders.
While the Bears struggled throughout the game, the former USC QB’s dad was seemingly unimpressed with how the Bear’s head coach, Matt Eberflus, handled the post-game press conference.
Caleb Williams’ Father Responds to Matt Eberflus
While discussing all the factors that contributed to their loss, head coach Eberflus blamed the execution for most of the mistakes rather than taking responsibility for his game plan and coaching style.
Talking about the game-winning touchdown during the last minute, Eberflus kept reiterating how the team practiced that play multiple times rather than talking about it from a coaching point of view.
“We’ve practiced that play 100 times since we’ve been here,” Eberflus said. “And again, I’ll have to look at what the execution was of that, but we have a body on the body boxing guys out, like basketball at the very end. We have one guy that’s the rim that knocks the ball down. We got a back-tip guy that goes behind the pile.”
Days after the loss, Williams’ dad, Carl, reposted a video of Washington defensive coordinator Joe Whitt talking about what they could’ve done better and differently and captioned it “#accountability #realcoach.”
While most people believed that the now-deleted comment was a dig at Eberflus, Williams’ dad clarified that it was just an innocent comment.
“Innocent comment. I like what the Commanders are doing over there. I know some of those guys. Nothing to do with the Bears,” the elder Williams said to Shane Riordan.
The tweet has since been deleted, but I talked to Caleb Williams’s dad Carl. He tells me—

Who Is Williams’ Dad, Carl Williams?
The former Heisman Trophy winner’s dad, Carl Williams, is one of the game’s most involved and passionate dads.
He raised the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft with his wife, Dayna Price. From a young age, the couple started working toward making Caleb a generational talent and took care of his workouts, diet, room temperatures, and more.
Caleb went to a training facility called “Athletic Republic,” which is co-owned by his dad and is present in Maryland. Besides this business, Carl is also Caleb’s official agent and makes most of the critical decisions regarding the Bears quarterback’s career.
