What Is Bye Bye Barry? New Documentary Looks at the Life of NFL Legend Barry Sanders

There may not have been a more electric player to ever dawn an NFL uniform than Detroit Lions RB Barry Sanders. The things he was able to do with a football in his hand and with just even a little crack of space before he hit daylight for a touchdown are the stuff of legends. An NFL icon, who made a lasting impact in a surprisingly short career, Sanders is truly within the realm of the game’s greatest players.

While Sanders hasn’t suited up for an NFL game since 1998, there is still a lot of intrigue in the life and career that the star running back led. A lot of questions from his time in Detroit have been left unanswered, and with the latest documentary just released, fans may get the answers they have been looking for.

    What Is Bye Bye Barry?

Bye Bye Barry is a new documentary coming out this week, brought by Prime Video, detailing Sanders’ life. A production of NFL Films, Bye Bye Barry was made in conjunction with Sanders and gives viewers a unique peak at Sanders beyond the player we saw on the field.

Sanders is known for his explosive play on the field, with a rare ability to score a touchdown in the most improbable of ways. He was a star with a struggling franchise that, despite having one of the game’s best players, was unable to find any sustained success during his time.

While it looked like Sanders was on top of the NFL world, he shockingly decided to walk away from the game of football for good at the height of his career. Many have discussed the motivation for doing so, but for the first time in real detail, Sanders gets a chance to tell his side of the story and discuss the decision.

When Does Bye Bye Barry Release?

With Sanders’ popularity, and the massive fan base of Lions fans, as well as NFL historians around the world, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the release of the new documentary.

The much-anticipated documentary, created by NFL Films, was released for the viewers’ pleasure Tuesday on Amazon Prime. Relive the highlights and the emotions, all while learning about the things Sanders went through during his early life all the way until the current day, as he continues to live his post-NFL life.
