Bills’ Playoff Scenarios: Who Will Josh Allen and Co. Face Off Against in the Wild Card Round?

    Published on

The Buffalo Bills don't have much to play for in Week 18, but who could they see in the Wild Card Round as the No. 2 seed?

The Buffalo Bills have been one of the most impressive teams all season apart from back-to-back losses in Weeks 4-5. While those defeats cost them the opportunity to earn home-field advantage over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills are still in a great position entering the NFL postseason.

What Is the Buffalo Bills’ Current Playoff Picture?

The Bills are locked into the No. 2 seed after Week 18. At 13-4, the Bills cannot catch the 15-1 Chiefs for the top seed. However, they also won’t fall below any other AFC team, all of whom have at least five losses.

This will be the third consecutive season the Bills are the No. 2 seed in the AFC. Each of the last two seasons resulted in home Divisional Round losses. Buffalo lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022 (27-10) and to the Chiefs last season (27-24).

Who Are the Bills Going To Play In the Wild Card Round?

The Bills will host the No. 7 seed in the Wild Card round, which means they will face off against the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos are playing some of their best football right now, coming off of a massive win against the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, most of the Chiefs’ key players did not play in that game, but their win was dominant nonetheless.

It will be the first time in eight years that the Broncos head to the postseason. However, they will now need to travel to Buffalo where it will likely be cold.

In the Bills’ final game of the year, they lost to the New England Patriots. That might seem like a bad way to head into the postseason, but they rested most of their starters after the first drive. The loss also knocked their rival Patriots out of the No. 1 spot in the 2025 NFL Draft and potentially helped get their head coach Jerod Mayo fired.
