Buffalo Bills Free Agency Predictions 2024: Buffalo Signs Geno Stone, Darnell Mooney, Brings Back Leonard Floyd

    Published on

Buffalo Bills have decisions to make in free agency with cap issues evident. Here are three free agency predictions, led by signing S Geno Stone.

NFL free agency is fast approaching, and with the window opening soon, teams have just about two weeks to finalize their plans and goals for the new year. It’s set to be a big offseason for the Buffalo Bills as they look to retool the roster in hopes of a deep playoff run in 2024 after this past season’s earlier-than-expected exit.

Led by Josh Allen at quarterback, many feel like the Bills have enough talent to be true contenders in the AFC, but they haven’t been able to get over the hump. Let’s take a look at three Bills free agency predictions ahead of an important offseason for the franchise.

    Buffalo Bills Free Agency Predictions

The Bills head into the offseason with some big questions that need answering. A lot of attention will be paid to the wide receiver room with anticipation that Gabe Davis will be elsewhere in 2024 and the ever-evolving situation that is Stefon Diggs.

This is a good team that, at times, underachieved, and with their limitations as far as cap space goes, it may be a challenge for them to be true players in free agency. However, we discuss some moves that could make sense both fit-wise and cap-wise.

Sign Geno Stone To Fortify Secondary

While we mentioned that the Bills have something to figure out offensively, that goes for their secondary as well. With both Micah Hyde and Taylor Rapp set to be free agents, the Bills go outside the building and get a young and productive safety to add to the unit.

The former Baltimore Raven had 50 solo tackles and seven interceptions in 2023 and comes into Buffalo as a true playmaking safety who can do all. They will need to make the money work to Stone into their plans, but this is a move that will add youth and production to a group that seems to be void of that heading into 2024.

Add Darnell Mooney to the WR Mix

Things can look drastically different for the Bills’ wide receiver room in 2024, with the expectation that Davis won’t be around at the very least. Adding Mooney to the mix, while it doesn’t count as an apples-to-apples switch with Davis, brings in a productive WR who brings a little something different to the room to help mitigate the potential loss.

Mooney is a field-stretcher that Allen will love throwing the long ball to, and adding him to the roster may not cost an aggressive amount to do so. It won’t be the perfect solution to a room that could potentially lose a significant amount of production, but for the money and the need, Mooney makes a lot of sense.

Re-Sign Leonard Floyd To Keep Pass Rush In-House

Anytime a man can tally 12 sacks on the season, he is worthy of bringing back. Double-digit sacks are hard to come by, and although Leonard Floyd is set to hit free agency, the Bills do what they can to keep one of their best pass rushers on their roster.

Floyd isn’t expected to break the bank with his next contract, but teams value pass rush, so his market could heat up as a result. The Bills find a way to keep him in the fold on a short-term deal and keep him in the pass-rushing rotation for at least 2024.
