The Tennessee Volunteers hosted the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday evening of college football’s Week 5 slate. Before halftime, Volunteers wide receiver Bru McCoy suffered a lower body injury. We have the latest updates on his injury.
Bru McCoy Injury Update
McCoy, a fourth-year junior in his second season at Tennessee, suffered a potentially devastating injury to his right hip and knee. After catching a slant pass, McCoy was tackled by two Gamecocks defenders. McCoy got tangled between the two defenders, with his right leg buckling.
The injury was visibly disturbing for players on the field, and McCoy was immediately in distress. He was carted off the field and taken to the local hospital in an ambulance.
Jeff Mueller, doctor of physical therapy and injury analyst, speculated (warning: graphic content) that McCoy suffered a hip drop injury and possibly a multi-ligament injury, including a knee dislocation.
McCoy was in the midst of a solid season for the Volunteers and already had two catches for 21 yards in this matchup before going down with the injury.
