Baker Mayfield’s comeback into the top quarterback talks is nothing short of the legendary phoenix rising from its ashes. However, Mayfield’s impeccable performances have put a question mark on the Cleveland Browns.
Mayfield was the No. 1 overall pick in 2018, the Browns were happy to have him, but things never panned out. General manager Andrew Berry’s recent comments have muddied the waters even more for fans.
Andrew Berry Generates More Questions for Fans Over His Answer on Baker Mayfield’s Current Success
On Tuesday, Berry appeared in front of the media to break the news of Deshaun Watson’s “setback” during his rehabilitation. However, he was asked about the reasons why Mayfield couldn’t perform for the Browns as he has been doing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Berry blamed the environment and suggested that a QB’s success depends on the team’s environment. When Mayfield left in the 2022 offseason, Berry had been the GM for two years. One user on X (formerly Twitter) pointed it out.
“Berry gives a bizarre answer to the question of Why couldn’t it work out with Baker in Cleveland given the success he’s having in Tampa?’ A big part of a QB’s success or failure can be environment.’ Huh? The Browns ‘environment’ — while he was GM — is why Baker failed here?” tweeted the user.

The Browns fans already hurting after the 3-14 season, did not waste much time in calling out the GM.
“It is possible that he realized he f***ed up and was very low-key admitting it,” one fan replied.
This is hilarious and embarrassing for Berry and the Browns https://t.co/lwYOsZ7ZNL

“They will never admit it because it is too embarrassing. They will never be held accountable because ppl fail up these days,” added a fan.
Basically it sounded like the Browns were the problem and not Baker.

Mayfield Highlights Goals Beyond the Playoffs
Mayfield ended the season with 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, which led to the Bucs winning the NFC South. However, the 29-year-old is not done just now.
“It feels good, but our goal wasn’t just getting into the playoffs,” Mayfield said to the media. “We want to go all the way. This is a tough, resilient group that’s been tested throughout the year and so we’re built for the playoffs.”
The Bucs will begin their postseason campaign against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The Wild Card matchup kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET.
