Brock Purdy has led the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl 58, vastly exceeding expectations his college performance set. His play has been on par with established quarterbacks in the NFL, and he has been deserving of a big contract.
As the Mr. Irrelevant for the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy earns far less than his peers. However, he may increase his annual pay if he wins the Super Bowl.
How Much Will Brock Purdy Earn for Winning the Super Bowl?
Purdy will receive a bonus of $164,000 if the 49ers win Super Bowl 58. As player’s salaries are counted differently during the postseason, each player who wins the Super Bowl in the 2023 season will receive that bonus.
As the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy signed a four-year, $3.7 million contract with only $77,008 guaranteed. The 49ers quarterback’s salary for the 2023 season is just $870,000.
Compared to his opposing quarterback in Super Bow 58, that is shockingly low. Patrick Mahomes carries a cap hit of $37.1 million for the 2023 season. However, Purdy will take home additional pay in 2023 due to his performances and wins in the postseason.
As Purdy has performed in the playoffs, he is in for a windfall of postseason bonuses. The postseason money arrangements are ingrained in the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and Spotrac breaks down the potential earnings per NFL player.
For the 2023 season, players on the 53-man roster — the Sunday before each round — will receive $50,500 for winning the Wild Card round, or $45,500 if the team is the No. 1 seed and therefore has a bye.
In the Divisional Round, the winners receive $50,500, and for winning the Conference Championship, players receive another $73,000.
Then, in the Super Bowl, players on the winning team take home $164,000, while the loser gets $89,000 each.
That means for the 2024 postseason, Purdy has already earned an additional $169,000. If the 49ers were to win the Super Bowl, it would take his playoff pay to $333,000.
For star players, the postseason money is a drop in the ocean compared to their enormous salaries. However, with Purdy on a smaller contract, it is a hefty wedge on top of his annual pay.
If Purdy wins the Super Bowl, it will take his total pay for the 2023 season to $1.2 million.
Purdy has more than outplayed his draft value and will be in for a big contract extension shortly. However, as the NFL’s CBA states, a “rookie contract for a drafted rookie may not be renegotiated, amended or altered in any way until after the final regular season game of the player’s third contract year.”

That means Purdy will have to wait at least one more year, into 2025, before he is eligible to negotiate a new contract with the 49ers.
