The 2024 NFL Draft is filled with talent across the board on both offense and defense, and there are bound to be quite a few franchise-changing selections made. As for Georgia superstar tight end Brock Bowers, he might be one of them. Here’s everything to know about him.
How Tall Is Brock Bowers?
Bowers didn’t test in on-field drills at the NFL Combine, but he did officially measure in. He was listed at 6’4″ in college but officially came in at 6’3″. He also adds 32 3/4″ arms and 9 3/4″ hands.
Bowers comes in just under the NFL average at tight end, which is 6’4″. The tallest tight end in the NFL is Zach Gentry of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who stands at 6’8″. The shortest tight end, however, is Connor Heyward, also on the Steelers, at 6’0″
How Much Does Bowers Weigh?
While Brock Bowers is a little shorter than average, he’s more than fine in terms of weight. He officially weighed in at 243 pounds at the Combine. The average NFL tight end weighs about 240-260 pounds, perfectly in the range of Bowers.
Marcedes Lewis and Mo Alie-Cox are the heaviest tight ends in the NFL, standing at 267 pounds each. The lightest tight end would be Lawrence Cager of the New York Giants, who is just 220 pounds.
How Old Is Bowers?
With a rapidly successful college football career, Bowers didn’t need to spend more than the NFL-required three years out of high school. As a result, Bowers entered the draft as a junior. He was born on Dec. 13, 2002, meaning he is 21 years old.
Currently, the youngest tight end in the NFL is a four-way tie between Michael Mayer, Sam LaPorta, Darnell Washington, and Davis Allen, who are all 22 years old. The oldest would be Marcedes Lewis, who is 39.
What School Did Bowers Go To?
Bowers was born and raised in Napa, Calif. He attended Napa High School, where he played quarterback, tight end, and linebacker. He had 1,499 all-purpose yards as a junior but did not play a senior season due to COVID-19 restrictions. He was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports.
Despite offers from around the country, Bowers decided to take his talents east to the University of Georgia.
Revisiting Bowers’ College Career
At Georgia, it didn’t take any time for Bowers to make his mark. As just a true freshman, Bowers recorded 56 receptions for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns. In his career, he had 175 receptions for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also had 19 rushing attempts for 193 yards and five more touchdowns.

His award chest includes two College Football Playoff National Championships, three first-team All-SECs, two first-team All-Americans (one unanimous), two John Mackey Awards, one second-team All-American, and an SEC Freshman of the Year.
Despite still having over 700 yards, 2023 was the worst year of Bowers’ career. What was the reason for that? A late-season injury that forced him to miss two games due to undergoing tightrope surgery.
Bowers’ Potential in the NFL
According to Ian Cummings of PFN, Bowers grades out as a top-10 prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“He’s a blue-chip talent and the clear-cut No. 1 player at his position,” Cummings said.
On top of his game-changing athleticism, Bowers’ best ability is that he will be able to be used as a versatile offensive weapon. Some of his other strengths include extreme explosiveness, good acceleration, and hip flexibility. He also has strong hands and a variable release package.
His weaknesses, on the other hand, include an average mass for a tight end, stiff hips, a less-than-efficient route tree, and sometimes an issue with clap-catching passes.
