Late during the third quarter against the Colorado Buffaloes, a defender dragged USC wide receiver Brenden Rice down after catching a pass over the middle of the field. Rice, the son of NFL Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, had five catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. The future NFL Draft prospect gingerly walked off the field after suffering the injury.
Brenden Rice Injury Update
Update: Rice returned to the field just two drives later, so the injury appears to be not serious enough to keep him out.
USC quickly scored after Rice departed the game, pushing the lead to 48-21 before the fourth quarter commenced. With USC’s deep receiving room offering several other viable options in the event of an injury like this, Rice did not immediately return to the field.
