Brandon Aubrey Continues To Stack Accolades and Is Named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

What did Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey say about being named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week?

Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey continues to stack the accolades and was named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 14.

This is the second time Aubrey was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week this season.

How Brandon Aubrey Keeps His Focus

This accolade didn’t shock anyone after Aubrey is now 30-of-30 on field goal attempts this season. As well, he became the first kicker in NFL history to make two field goals of 59 yards or longer in the same game after making 45, 50, 59, and 60-yard field goals during Sunday’s game.

Aubrey’s story is phenomenal in itself, but his ability to block everything out from the outside and not allow himself to waver is rare.

He says to get through the moment and not allow anything to get to him, he talks to himself and engages in breathing exercises, adding, “Just focusing on things I can control and just focusing on the job.”

The rookie kicker said he isn’t superstitious but focuses on one thing at a time.

“I don’t want to build up my ego and forget about the details of the things that have gotten me here,” Aubrey said.

Aubrey says he is thankful for being named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, especially because he gets opportunities to kick 60-yard field goals in game-time situations.

Mike McCarthy said the 28-year-old is essential because he generates points.

“His performance level is so, so impressive. If you just see him work, he’s the same person every day. Very diligent,” McCarthy said.

Aubrey has generated 129 points this season, the most in the NFL by any player.

McCarthy also commended the operation between Aubrey, Bryan Anger, and Trent Sieg, calling it healthy and vital for the punter and long-snapper to have a good connection with the kicker.

Aubrey has always been one to credit how much Anger and Sieg have helped him this season, and this week was no different.

The kicker said their impact has been massive for him this season, allowing him to come into his rookie season with as few hiccups as possible.

Records Aubrey Can Break on Sunday

With Aubrey continuing to set records every week, here are other records he is on track to break as early as Sunday’s game against the Bills:

    • With one more field goal of 50+ yards, he can tie Brett Maher for the single-season franchise record (nine) set back in 2022.
    • Aubrey is nine points away from passing Brett Maher for the most kicking points in a season in franchise history (137).
