The Philadelphia Eagles did not look their best in Week 1 but still managed to squeak out a win. They now face a softer defense in Week 2. Boston Scott has always performed when called upon but has never been asked to be the main guy on a consistent basis. With Kenneth Gainwell missing Thursday night’s contest, should fantasy football managers consider starting Scott in lineups?

Should I Start or Sit Boston Scott in Fantasy This Week?
It goes without saying no one started Scott in Week 1. In fact, it’s highly doubtful Scott was even rostered in your league. He may not even be rostered yet. But with Gainwell ruled out for Thursday night, Scott becomes at least a little bit intriguing.
Last week, the Eagles chose to keep Scott active ahead of free agent acquisition Rashaad Penny. Scott didn’t play much, but if the hierarchy is to be believed, Scott is the RB3 of this team. That would mean Scott moves up to the RB2 role.
Then, we have the issue of D’Andre Swift. Although Swift outsnapped Scott last week, it wasn’t as if the Eagles showed any real interest in giving him the ball. Swift managed just a single carry and a single reception, gaining just three total yards.
We’ve seen the Eagles turn to Scott before in a pinch. Would it be that much of a surprise if he essentially took over the Gainwell role, leaving Swift exactly where he was?
Fantasy Outlook for Scott vs. the Vikings
Scott is now in his sixth professional season. Throughout his time with the Eagles, Philadelphia has shuffled through numerous backs, never turning their backfield over to Scott. I don’t anticipate it starting now.
It wouldn’t shock me at all if the Eagles activated Penny and made him the lead back. Similarly, it wouldn’t shock me if Swift was the lead back, as he was technically the RB2 last week.

You can see where we have all three Eagles backs in our PFN Consensus Week 2 Rankings. While Scott is higher than you’ll probably see him all season, he’s still not ranked as a starter.
Scott has five career games with over a 50% snap share and none since 2021. Could he end up being the leadback for this one game? Sure. Am I about to thrust him into lineups on a short week? Absolutely not.
